The One Dollar Bill (Rerun, but good)
February 18, 2003 | Unknown

Take out a one dollar bill. The one dollar bill you're looking at first came off the presses in 1957 in its present design.

This so-called paper money is in fact a cotton and linen blend, with red and blue minute silk fibers running through it. It is actually material. We've all washed it without it falling apart. A special blend of ink is used, the contents we will never know. It is overprinted with symbols and then it is starched to make it water resistant and pressed to give it that nice crisp look.

Take a moment, pull out a one-dollar bill and look at it. The one-dollar bill you’re looking at first came off the presses in 1957 in its present design. This so-called paper money is in fact a cotton and linen blend, with red and blue minute silk fibers running through it. It is actually material. We’ve all washed it without it falling apart. A special blend of ink is used, the contents we will never know. It is overprinted with symbols and then it is starched to make it water resistant and pressed to give it that nice crisp look.

If you look on the front of the bill, you will see the United States Treasury Seal. On the top you will see the scales for balance -- a balanced budget. In the center you have a carpenter’s T-square, a tool used for an even cut. Underneath is the Key to the United States Treasury.

That’s all pretty easy to figure out, but what is on the back of that dollar bill is something we should all know. If you turn the bill over, you will see two circles. Both circles, together, comprise the Great Seal of the United States. The First Continental Congress requested that Benjamin Franklin and a group of men come up with a Seal. It took them four years to accomplish this task and another two years to get it approved.

If you look at the left-hand circle, you will see a Pyramid. Notice the face is lighted and the western side is dark. This country was just beginning. We had not begun to explore the West or decided what we would do for Western Civilization. The Pyramid is uncapped, again signifying that we were not even close to being finished. Inside the capstone you have the all-seeing eye of Ra, an ancient Egyptian symbol for divinity. It was Franklin’s belief that one man couldn’t do it alone, but a group of men, with the help of the Deist’s God (not the Christian God), could do anything.

“IN GOD WE TRUST” is on this currency. It was added by during the anti-communist era in 1957 to distinguish the U.S. from “godless” communism. According to the Supreme Court, the “GOD” is not one of any particular religion, but is representative of every religions’ gods.

Above the pyramid is the Latin “ANNUIT CŒPTIS”, adapted from Vergil’s Aeneid IX:625, means “God (Jupiter) has favored our undertaking.” Below the pyramid the Latin “NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM”, adapted from Vergil’s Eclogues IV:5, means “a new secular order has begun.” Secular, because the United States government is areligious, it endeavors to be disentangled in matters of faith and allow each citizen to follow his or her own reverent devotion. Without interference of the government. Without the exaltation of any particular religion by the government, nor the persecution of any religion by the government. The United States protects the freedom of religion, freedom from religion, and separation of church and state. At the base of the pyramid is the Roman Numeral for 1776.

If you look at the right-hand circle, and check it carefully, you will learn that it is on every National Cemetery in the United States. It is also on the Parade of Flags Walkway at the Bushnell, Florida National Cemetery and is the centerpiece of most hero monuments. Slightly modified, it is the seal of the President of the United States and it is always visible whenever he speaks, yet few know what the symbols mean.

The Bald Eagle was selected as a symbol for victory for two reasons: first, he is not afraid of a storm; he is strong and he is smart enough to soar above it. Secondly, he wears no material crown. We had just broken from the King of England. Also, notice the shield is unsupported. This country can now stand on its own. At the top of that shield you have a white bar signifying congress, a unifying factor. We were coming together as one nation. In the Eagle’s beak you will read the Latin “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, meaning “out of many [people], one [nation].” Above the Eagle you have thirteen shining stars representing the thirteen original colonies, and the clouds of misunderstanding rolling away. Again, we were coming together as one. Notice what the Eagle holds in his talons. He holds an olive branch and arrows. This country wants peace, but we will never be afraid to fight to preserve peace. The Eagle always wants to face the olive branch, but in time of war, his gaze turns toward the arrows.

They say that the number 13 is an unlucky number. This is almost a worldwide belief. You will rarely see a room numbered 13, or any hotels or motels with a 13th floor. But, think about this:

According to this the treasury changes the plates during war time so the eagle looks toward the arrows. Can anyone verify this? Got an old dollar bill?

Why would the US government endorse and use a symbol of Ra on its currency??? Aren't we suppose to separate church (ie, Christians, pagans,Hindus, mooselimbs) from the state?? Where is the ACLU when you need them???

Perhaps it's time we bring this back out also.

Note the threads that run through the financial insturment that Commemorates the Clinton Presidency.  Unlike the one dollar bill, it's cotton blend and production processes are well known to the Amercian public.  This is a Federal Reserve Joke, in the nation invisioned by Bill and Hillary Clinton, the Socialist States of America.  It is not legal tender for any debts, public or private, but that didn't stop the Chinese government from donating hundreds of thousands of these to the Comittee to re-elect and the DNC.

Note the seal on the left.  It depicts the overall grade of the Clinton Presidency, as well as documenting an alleged source of early financial support for his political career.  The serial number memorializes one of the cornerstone events in the Clinton Presidency, the death of Vince Foster, White House legal councel.  The terms that govern the distribution of this instrument are devised in what Bill Clinton lovingly thinks of as Moscow on the Potomac.

This bill is a 1984 design series bill.  It's Treasurer of the United States and Treasury Secretary signators need no introduction.  Clinton's likeness is taken from an NBC Tom Brokaw interview, in which Bill was pressed a little more than he liked.  Thus the loving sneer on his stately mug.

The back needs no explanation, other than the fact that it couldn't possibly hold all the deeds the Clintons should be held to account for.

"Government is the only agency that can take a valuable commodity like paper, slap some ink on it, and make it totally worthless" -- Ludwig von Mises

From Money, by James E. Ewart

1880– This certifies that there have been deposited with the Treasurer of the U.S. at Washington, D.C., payable at his office to the bearer on demand one thousand silver dollars.

1918– Secured by United States Certificates of Indebtedness or one-year gold notes, deposited with the Treasurer of the United States of America, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, California, will pay to the bearer on demand one dollar.

1922– This certifies that there have been deposited in the Treasury of the United States of America fifty dollars in gold coin payable to the bearer on demand.

1928– This note is a legal tender at its face value for all debts public and private. The United States of America will pay to the bearer on demand two dollars.

1934– This note is legal tender for all debts public and private, and is redeemable in lawful money at the United States Treasury, or at any Federal Reserve Bank.

1963– This note is legal tender for all debts public and private.

What is lawful money anyway?

Your are advised that the term "lawful money" has not been defined in federal legislation. It first came to use prior to 1933 when some United States currency was not legal tender but could be held by national banking institutions as lawful money reserves. Since the act of May 12, 1933, as amended by the Joint Resolution of June 5, 1933, makes all coins and currency of the United States legal tender and the Joint Resolution of August 27, 1935, provides for the exchange of United States coin or currency for other types of such coin or currency, the term "lawful money" no longer has such special significance.

“IN GOD WE TRUST” is on this currency. It was added by during the anti-communist era in 1957 to distinguish the U.S. from “godless” communism.

In 1957, the circulating coin of the US was still silver. You could exchange your dollar bill for a silver dollar. And all your 50c pieces, quarter dollars, and dimes, were all 50/100, 25/100, and 10/100 of a real silver dollar. However, contrary to Federalist 69 (towards the end), President Roosevelt in 1933 proscribed a rule concerning the currency imposing fines and jail for any American caught with coin or bullion. And in 1964, silver coinage was replaced with base metal silver coated tokens designed to look like the real silver coins. Nixon took us off the international gold standard so foreigners could not redeem their paper dollars, or electronic credits that represent dollars, in gold.

The communists always said that the way to overturn a society is to debase the currency. No longer, gold, no longer silver, our currency is pure paper backed by debt and the power of taxation. Kennedy was the last person who cared to fix the problem. They killed him.

What we are left with now could not possibly be more communist, the words In God we Trust, totally meaningless as is the word "dollar," from a constitutional perspective, and that of the first money act of April 2, 1792.

So while you show this nice article to your grandkids, and feel good all over to remember Ben Franklin, don't expect the good feelings to last because as your grandkids get old they too will discover that the money they saved will buy less and less over time as prices continually increase and erode the purchasing power of their hard earned savings.

If you really want to give your grandkids a lesson have them read Federalist 69 and then try to rationalize how FDR could have possibly interfered with Americans' ownership and possession of gold coin and bullion.

Excellent! Now, can one be made with the portrait of Ben Bernanke and some satire about his printing press that can run these off at essentially no cost?

Thanks, that's good.

Here's something interesting about a five dollar bill

There are 26 states listed on the back of a $5.00 bill. The states appear on the Lincoln Memorial.

The $10 bill (aka "sawbuck" due to the roman "X" on early versions that resembled the support for sawing logs) is the only one with motor vehicles on it.

Cool. I found out about the five when we were looking to buy a microscope for our department. They showed us a five with the states, and the back of a penny as part of their demostration. I figured the internet would have it.

Back of a penny:
