Hi, Flyer,
We don't venture into downtown, downtown, Houston too often, although we are very familiar with the major freeways surrounding the area.
Lousianna at Texas, if we are coming in on the Katy Freeway, what exit should we take? Help? Woof?

if we are coming in on the Katy Freeway, what exit should we take? I think the Smith Street exit will be easist. Stay on Smith and it goes right to Jones Plaza. I will try to confirm this before the end of the week. (meaning I will actually drive that stretch and check for constuction, etc.)

The library is not far away, so I am thinking of parking there. If that lot is full, I would probably park in a lot and pay the money (figure around $5) to park.
Smith St. exit sounds about right. GET THERE EARLY.... LOOK FOR THE BIG "WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" SIGN.

Awwwww....... Flyer (so nice of you)! Hubby says he's got it now and says you don't need to drive the route. He will get us there, now that he knows the Smith street is the exit. Thank you so much.

And leave that cell phone at home !!! LOL
BTW - Nice directions you gave me Friday. Couldn't find the restaraunt, so had to give up. See the pictures from the San Antonio freep, banner was a big hit.

Jones Plaza is a square block that is bordered by Smith St (NW), Texas St (NE), Louisiana St (SE), and Capitol St (SW). Can't miss it once you get on Smith St. Biggest problem will be where to park.
City Hall a couple of block away. Park in the Mayor's spot. He will probably be out of town. I intend to park at the library, about 4 blocks away.

So great to see that the Houston freepers are going to participate in this rally for America!
Thanks in advance for waving the banner and the flag!

BTW, do y'all think dogs are welcomed/allowed? It'd be cool to bring the Dread Boston Salty.

dogs If it were I, I would leave the dog to guard the house. One less thing to carry, worry about getting stepped on, may not be welcome at Floyd's afterwards, etc.
We'll plan a FReep Day in the Park for our FReeper dogs someday.

This is very true . . . I'm not entirely sure the cool waiter at Floyd's would appreciate the DBS's contribution to the cause. (Which mostly consists of gassing up the room when he knows I'm on DU.)

Need to reserve a prime stop for the banner. Don't know about the dog (I thought you were cat person).
Maybe I should show up in a limo, Nah.
Keep your eye on the local liberal boards, see if they are going to have a cow over this.

Probably not a good idea to bring the dog. Humblegunner and I might never stop the "Kim Jong" imitations.
Regarding restaraunt afterwards, how about a different place? Thinking a craving for BBQ might surface afterwards.

how about a different place? Considering we crowd Floyd's with 10 of us that may not be a bad idea.

We have three nine-year-old cats, which I acquired a few years before I acquired Xena's Guy: Dolly the alpha cat, Spot the gorgeous tabby, and Dennis (who is a true dogcat - he's converted cat-haters into cat-tolerators).
The Dread Boston Salty was my Christmas present to Xena's Guy in 1998. The best memory I have of him so far (XG, not Salty) is the afternoon of December 23, pulling up with the little dude after a harrowing drive to Caldwell to pick him up, and the Guy standing on the curb in front of our place, in a hailing 20-some degrees, waiting for his puppy.
Y'all do need to bust out with all the Kim Jong Il jokes - that Caption This thread had me crying, I was laughing so hard.
