Unfortunately, since this is Texas we all consider ourselves experts, so it might be hard for us to agree on a Bar-B-Q place. How about somewhere like Griff’s. It is on Roseland, which would be close to downtown. They have o.k. food, a full bar, and they can accommodate lots of folks.

If that doesn’t sound good, the neartown area is my hood, so I will be thinking about some other places. I presume the criteria are; they must have a full service bar, allow smoking, and have passable food.

Probably not a good idea to bring the dog. Humblegunner and I might never stop the "Kim Jong" imitations.

No fry dog!

Bumping the thread and I'll see you all on Saturday!

KPRC doesn't yet have a flyer to help promote the rally so we can use this in the mean time. . .

Download the Flyer

Have you noticed that every time someone calls KSEV with the info they cut him off? I guess they don't like the fact that their competitor is backing the rally.

Allegra, since we are both veterans of group sporting event outings, I immediately thought of Griff’s. That establishment can accommodate a whole battalion of Freepers. During the week Griff’s is a pretty busy neighborhood bar, but unless there is some big sporting event, Saturday afternoon it is a pretty quite place.

Another reason we might want to consider Griff’s is the media is very familiar with this bar. I have been there several times when there is some big sports story going on, and the media usually show up to get comments from the patrons. Maybe if we alert the media types they will stop by for comments about the rally.

One more reason for us to go there is Griff’s is located in that bastion of liberalism Montrose, and I think it would be fun to dance on the graves of the liberals right in their own back yard. I don’t know for sure, but I think Griff’s probably has a pretty conservative clientele.

I noticed something regarding the large "We Support Our Troops" banner. We have some room below it for a couple of small advertisements (i.e. FR and HoustonLiberty). Say two signs, each about 3'-6" x 9"? Think about it.

I will be on PalTalk tonight....Look for me.

Picture of a little kitty. He is either imitating the French, or anticipating the amount of noise we are going to make on Saturday. BUMP.

Just a point of view here on your comment HC, not directed at you specifically but to all here in general. KSEV has a good set of radio talk show hosts and a great format but with the level of animosity that exists between KSEV and KPRC Clear Channel it is no wonder that the good folks at KSEV are turning a cold shoulder to these callers and to this effort. Clear Channel was wrong to treat Dans (Patrick) people the way they did when they took over KPRC but Dans people are also pretty thin skinned about it also. Dan Patrick talks a good talk about the rift but actions do speak louder than words as usual.

Some of the talk around here and other known quarters over the months hasn't helped much either IMO. Local freepers and KSEV need each other whether they know it or not. Dan has a pretty thick skin on some things but not on this strong dislike towards anything having to do with Clear Channel and KPRC. And Freepers have big hearts and lots of enthusiasm but little understanding about this situation between Dans KSEV and Clear Channels KPRC. Just thought a bit of perspective here was in order.

Oh man, I think I will call FastSigns, and see how much it would cost to add that.

I need to add a few things here.

The encouragement regarding the KPRC rally is directed toward the rally itself and not necessarily toward KPRC. This rally needs all support possible, regardless of whether KSEV or KPRC initiated it. If KSEV started it instead, I would still support it.

Whether it is KPRC, KSEV, or both that you listen to, and whether or not you like a specific talk show host, this is an afternoon to put those differences aside and support the country.

If KSEV is giving a cold reception to this effort, it is a large disappointment. Let's deal with that later and support the current effort. The KSEV/KPRC rift started before I moved to Houston, so I am in no position to take sides.

All we would need is a couple of signs of some decent board, and some (i.e. duct tape) to attach it to the current sign.

Griff's works for me! I haven't been there since we had a team called the Oilers here. And if we show up en masse Saturday afternoon, they'll certainly have conservative clientele at that time. :)

I guess they don't like the fact that their competitor is backing the rally.

The thing to do then would be for KSEV to sponsor a rally in a few weeks. This is a big town - we can do two.
