What? This can't be true. He was never that big of an artist that he would sell that many the first week of a release and there was in deed HUGE backlash against him over the childporn stuff.
I though he had been keeping a low profile lately as well.

Probably 90% of his audiance doesn't know anything about this issue and the other 10% admire him for it!
Sad, but probably true!

I think that Hollywood, the Media, and their PR folks are turning the concept of porn (and especially child porn) into a cocktail-party "chic" topic, like they did (and continue) with drugs (remember the "Heroin Look"), with AIDS, with Rap, with Child Abuse, etc.
Any praticioner of some deviate or revolting behavior isn't criminal, it's "eclectic". So many of these "stars" are getting caught doing the most revolting and dastardly deeds that the Hollyweird elite need to be able to laugh it off as a idiosyncracy (sp?) so they can invite the scum to their parties, premiers, and awards ceremonies.

Given the current state of pop culture in this country, he didn't hit #1 in spite of the indictments, he hit it BECAUSE of the indictments.

No, his audience is well aware of what he's like. The videos were widely "distributed" on an informal basis and on the internet. They don't *care*, it's a different culture to say the least.

So more than 10% are admiring him for it then....that is just sick!

Maybe he can hand out the Oscar for Polanski's "The Pianist."

So when will he be running a Rat congressit based on his childporn?Hey, I saw the frazzlin' videotape. Robert Kelly is going to jail. He is going to jail for a very long time. All the lawyers in Chicago aren't going to be able to stop him from going to jail.
And any parent who is dumb enough to leave their children alone with him ought to join him in the clink as well.

I won't disagree with you on that point at all, but in this case I think it is people who don't know or sadly might not care about this man's behavior.

The videos were widely "distributed" on an informal basis and on the internet.I've seen the videos. He should be placed up under the jail with a 400 pound AIDS-ridden leper named "Sugar Daddy" as a roommate. His cell should have one bed. And it should be downwind from the garbage dump.
And that's still too good for him as far as I'm concerned.

I was in a CD store the other day and a costumer asked a store employee when the new R. Kelly CD was going to come out.
Being just within earshot I said w/o lowering my voice R. Kelly?, Isnt he the rapper that pedophiled a 13yr old and then pi**ed on her?
It was like a deer in headlights.
