Through the San Diego website previously published, I've gotten in touch with a US sailor aboard the USS Boxer.
She's written me back several times, and I know she would love to hear from patrotic Freepers..
Here is her address for goodies and nice notes..

click here to go to the NBC website and send an e-mail overseas. It's very simple and extremely rewarding. Type one e-mail and it's sent out to several different ships which have been deployed. They're listed on the page.
A simple expression of thanks and maybe something about yourself, your interests, etc. will be appreciated by those who are doing their part to protect the country. I sent one out New Years Eve and had a huge response. I still correspond with several on a daily basis. I still hear from new ones, in fact I heard from a new one tonight who's serving on the USS Constellation.
It means a lot to them, having people reach out and show their support and appreciation for their efforts.

We have two local Marines we have adopted. We are trying to figure out what to put in the packages. There was a thread here last week about it but I have lost it. If anyone has it, let me know.

Does anybody know how to find a contact on a boat based from somewhere other than out of San Diego?
Thanks

If you'll go to the USO Canteen FR Style, here on Free Republic, you'll find the Canteen Post Office listed in one of the first few posts each day. It's on post #3 on today's thread. Listed there are several different sites and methods of contacting the military. Just click on the flashing marquee.
I've heard from a couple of people via the Operation Dear Abby message board which is one of the sites listed there.
Thank you for wanting to make a difference in a service person's life. It really does mean a lot to them. :-)

I've heard again from Sadie. She went onshore in Kuwait and talked to several Marine detachments. (I told her to give them a big hug from me, my WWII history columns have sold me on the Marines, although hubby is Vietnam era Army and I have several sailors (WWII era) I am quite fond of.)
She seems to be a typical young girl, who is still very wounded by her father's abandonment of her family and who is genuinely bewildered by the explosion of "anti-war" protests by the Left.
I hope that FReepers will add her to your prayers, and send her some positive email (she shares with the crew) to keep up the morale.
As an aside, (da&n) those Hollywood protesters, living in their 9,000 sq. foot mansions while hypocritically and piously "protesting" the war. I, and my family, will never watch you on TV or the big screen ever again.
