I won't be missing this one tonight. I have a feeling that this is going to be a very important speech.
Thanks for the heads up.

I think it will be an important speech, too. Might be the last one we get before the Oval Office one telling us war has begun.

He's trying to help Blair out politically. We'll hear more rhetoric like we've been hearing. Last chance, game is over, must disarm, must abide by UN resolutions, UN needs to step up... yada yada yada.

I won't be missing this one tonight. I have a feeling that this is going to be a very important speech. Thanks for the heads up. You're right. This is the biggie. We've now entered the endgame for securing U.N. support, and I suspect Bush will make his best case tonight. It's too late to try it in front of the U.N. itself, because the diplomats already have their marching orders by that time. There are two areas he may choose to address that he has so far dodged.
One is the parallel between this and the Kosovo operation, where the Euros begged us to join in, and intentionally sidestepped the U.N. to avoid a Russian veto. That's a very important point, because I bet most Americans aren't aware of that. Also, it makes us look like we have more respect of the U.N. than did the French, etc., who pushed that, because at least we're trying to go through the U.N.
The other thing he may discuss are the terrorist training camps within Iraq. Most of the American people do not know that terrorists were trained in Iraq on how to hijack U.S. planes -- including on a full-size B707. Regardless of the direct link to 9/11, that would be enough to send most Americans over the edge.

My local news (Fox 5 Wash. D.C.) just reported that Rummy spent the afternoon giving a classified briefing on Capitol Hill and that right now he is briefing the entire House of Reps. behind closed doors.
Wonder how that plays into the President's speech tonight.
