This is a completely bogus urban legend which crops up periodically on FR. It is on the level of the Protocols of Zion Where did these alleged goals come from? Where were the published? Did the CP actual use this, almost comic Dr. Evil-like wording, or was the wording used by an "interpreter?" Yes....I know it was published in the Congressional Record...but so what? You see some of the stuff that Maxine Waters inserts there.

here did these alleged goals come from? Where were the published?

First, it is not an urban legend. Leon Skousen was an FBI agent. Many, if not most of the goals he articulates were written by Antonio Gramsci, including destroying the family with sexual perversion. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with Gramsci's writings before flippantly dismissing Skousen's conslusions?

Skousen also worked extensively from Carrol Quigley's writings back when almost no one had ever heard of them (the mid-1950s). Quigley's book was pulled by the publisher, and it wasn't because people weren't interested in reading it. Unless you have also read Tragedy and Hope, I would suggest you do a little homework before you so dispense such vitriol.

But listen to this excerpt on how the Bosheviks ran things in the Soviet Union from Richard Halliburton's "Seven League Boots"; 1935, in the chapter called "Straight talk from Russia"

Remember to put it into the context of the times - the Great Depression, when many, many influential people thought capitalism was through and Communism was the way of the future...

"Of course some of the stubborn ones may not like their new medicine. But we know what's good for them - they don't. We must lock them in. From now on no Russian may leave Russia."

"There will probably be a few fools," the leader continued, "who will fail to appreciate the blessings we are going to give them, and will try to run away. And perhaps some of them will succeed. But we'll take care of that. If any Russian does escape we'll persecute his mother and sisters and children, and send them off to starve and freeze in Siberia. That will teach the other rebels a lesson!"

"The family must go next. Family unity is a capitalistic and bourgeois custom dangerous to Communism. Our children must be taught to spy upon their parents and testify against them. Our men and women must be able to love whom they please, when they please; to marry and divorce on impulse. Our state will care for the unwanted offspring, and do it better than the parents."

"Money," they said, "is the source of all evil. Money was the support of the gentry and intelligentsia. We must destroy all private wealth, all private property, and all means of accumulating it, lest these old classes come back."

What's bizarre is many of these same ideas have been thrown around here in the US for a long time by socialists and others who might not have any idea where they came from.

"Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

Would they really say that? Would they claim their fellow traveler, Picasso was putting out repulsive, meaningless art?

The list is not an urban legend.

Skousen's book The Naked Communist, published in 1958, is one of the most important books ever written for grasping Communist Party activities during the Cold War. I read parts of the book back in the 1960s.

I understand that copies of Skousen's famous and important book are still available. I would suggest that you do an internet search and get a copy of the book-- and come up to speed, not disparage the list of the 45 goals as an "urban legend."

On October 25, 1999, Geoff Metcalf presented Skousen's list in a column on worldnetdaily.com, archived at http://www.freedomtapeclub.com/geoff_metcalf.htm. Metcalf said "I could (and probably should) write separate columns on each of the following items in the subsequent list of 1958 Communist Goals. However, this information (and commentary) is not an event, but a process. Therefore, as an introduction (as I practice restraint) here is the Skousen 1958 laundry list/wish list of Communist goals. As you read these please note these were 1958 Communist goals. This is not another cyberspace urban legend. Florida Congressman A.S. Herlong Jr. entered this list into the Congressional Records in 1963.

I've misplaced a book published by the Commitern or some such--an early Commie oversight org--I think in Moscow or some such--a really rare book. . . from decades before 1963--I think maybe even 50 years or so earlier.

The key goals listed above were in that book in one form or another. If and when I find it, I'll post key passages.

This particular list may have some bogus elements or sources associated with it in some way for some reason or another.

But the gist of it is NOT bogus.

It was my job to be aware of such early documents, to organize them and make them available to university researchers.

It isnt. Go to Amazon.com (or if you must, go to the library) and get W. Cleon Skousen's "The Naked Communist". It's a very revealing and quite timeless tome.
