Officer Lalumandier said that a couple of years ago, Bosnian factions holding grudges from the past created crime problems here. But police, joining with residents, got them resolved.

He is talking about groups backing Muslim fanatics against moderate Muslims that fought WITH the Christain Serbs against the fanatic Muslims factoin that the Clinton adminsitartion backed.

I live not far from the Bosnian neighborhood in St. Louis. Yes, about 3-5 years ago there were some problems--some fights, crime, and the like. But things seem to have settled down in the last few years, and I haven't heard of any major problems lately. The Bosnians seem to be making a peaceful transition, and most St. Louisans don't have a problem with them.

I recently talked with a friend from Columbus, OH. There are 19,000 Sudanese there. You heard about the ones in Lewiston, ME and Atlanta, GA. There are also some that took over a town in Minn. somewhere.

And down't forget about the Iraqis (Republican Guard) living in OKC.

The point is, these people all have a common denominator. THEY ARE MUSLIMS.

This is our govt.'s vow to de-Christianize this nation in action.

Oh, those evil Iraqi immigrants. I love stories that start with, "I talked to a friend...." Anecdotes are so helpful to intelligent political discussion. Anyway, when you say take over, do you mean they actively rose up and conquered the town by force? Or do you mean they immigrated to the town and soon constituted a majority in that town? You know, the Germans "took over" St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Cincinnati at one point in the 19th century. And by the way, many of the immigrants are Christian who left their countries due to religious persecution.

Is somebody or some group trying to destroy this nation? Why in God's name are we accepting Muslims into this country? We can't even have a common religious belief system. This is a prescription for endless conflict and,when the money disappears, war in the U.S.

It has nothing to do with religion it is a matter of decency. I am Orthodox christian and we used to take our shoes off when you go for a visit at a friends place. That actually comes from the climate over there. There is snow and mud outside and it would be pretty unpolite not to take your shoes off.

But then the Bosnians take their shoes off before they enter a mosque.

Oh I neighbours here in Sydney tend to complain when we have a complete pig or a lamb on the Barbi. (the Aussies have a shrimp on the barbi instead, they have no idea what a proper barbi is).

Note the sentence in the article:

That is my observation of the Bosnians here in St. Louis. The vast majority seem to be "MINOs," Muslims In Name Only (just like there are a lot of secular Jews, cultural Catholics, non-practicing Protestants, etc.). They do not seem to be the terrorist-cell type. They are George Bush's kind of peace-loving Muslims.

Anyway, our Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod is doing mission work among the Bosnians in St. Louis, so hopefully many of them will become Christians. :-)

I submit that comparing immigrant (Christian) Germans of long, long ago, with Bosnian Muslims, is sort of like using apples and oranges. Let us warble, as a letter writer to the Toronto Daily Star warbled. Multi-culture, do not be perturbed- "Come on and join the fun". Wonder how many Serbs have settled in the USA?. Would they be allowed to exist in harmony with the new residents of St Louis.? Who knows?
