Dennis Miller was always decent to me. He gave me a chance, and I appreciated it, but he has become so obstinately wrong of late that I am left with no choice but to comment.
No, no eletism there just that wonderful leftist tolerance we hear so much about. I love him when we agreed but as time went on I understood the mental mistakes he was making as our voices grew while drinking.

You're right. The Crimmins of the world have always fed on the fringes of totalitarian monsters. They're the elitist sucking life and the fashion pimps with small petty hearts. The people of Iraq would know his type, as would the people of eastern Europe.
Crimmins is possessed of the kind of mind which sends assassins to Mexico City to have Trotsky killed. Not only is dissent from his worldview not tolerable, but it requires in response the obliteration of the offending 'dissident.' Crimmins and temporal power are to be kept far apart, in the name of safety.

But give Miller credit; he has accomplished something that almost no one before him has ever been able to do. He has actually become so vile that he is not even suitable company in Hollywood. He can now make a game-show host shudder in revulsion. So struggling comic Barry Crimmins is jealous of Miller's success and wants Americans (at least on the left) to shun him. This is not a compatible viewpoint with the "First Ammendment means respecting the views of others, even those who call the President a Nazi".
He still is sore over Albert Gore Junior's unsuccessful attempt to fabricate a win in Florida.

Listening to his act is no longer something we look forward to; it is more like getting stuck in the back seat of your pops station wagon while he lectures you on "Americanism" through 30 miles of heavy traffic.
Two words for Crimmins.
Grow Up !

I wonder if Barry has spoken out about Ron Silver's abandoning the liberal side of politics.

They seem to be in the process of coming to gripes with their own irrelevance. Assure me that this was intentional. Brilliantly accurate.

Miller has quite an interesting career it seems. Smart and hip when he was a good ol' liberal boy, now he is becoming an obnoxious right-winger. His style doesn't seem much different in terms of abrasiveness than many other comedians of a more politically correct stripe. So my guess is that it is entirely political. Miller seems to have traversed the well worn path of many of us: starting out as a culturally indoctrinated liberal but with enough respect for truth to shift from liberal to libertarian and perhaps ultimately conservative. Or anywhere on that spectrum, say right-of-center?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe Miller doesn't really think what he's been saying. If not I have to give him credit at least on the "profit" side because those "Jane Fonda" types who've been spilling their vile do not seem to take this into account. I think many Americans will just not watch or go to the shows of the Martin Sheen types. These types have spilled their guts to the American public who I don't think will take their crap now and for a long long time. Sure they've taken a stand but it will cost them as it already has.

Dennis Miller was sooooooo right to dump the has been who wrote this hate piece. On the Crimmins website they are saying that Arianna Huffington tore Dennis Miller a new one on Bill Mahr the other night. I don't watch Bill Mahr, but I find this hard to believe.
