Chrissie Hynde of the Band Pretenders Roots for West's Loss Against Iraq "GIVE US WHAT WE DESERVE"

Ten songs into the Pretenders' Saturday show at the Warfield, singer- guitarist Chrissie Hynde pithily summed up her group's enduring appeal and, in the process, the appeal of rock music as a whole.

"I think our band represents all the great losers of the world," she told a cheering sold-out crowd. "Because it's all about the losing." With that, she handed off her guitar, grabbed the microphone and led the Pretenders into the power ballad/anti-anthem "The Losing," off their 2002 album, "Loose Screw."

Well, I guess she has one-upped Ellen Ratner who wanted Bush to "mess up" the war. Hynde-end actually wants us to lose.

Chrissy Hynde DESERVES to be forced to wear a burqa.

But our troops will fight to keep ALL of us free while leeches like her suck on the teat of freedom without offering anything in return.

This is a great reason for Rush to ax the opening bumper.

My first thought.

Maybe we should start a "New Opening Theme for Rush" thread and send him the link.

We should have Ditzy Chrissie deported. What a hate-monger

Im kinda mixed about Rush using her song for his intro. If it POs Chrissie them Im all for keeping it.

So, when we whack Saddam, can I make a sign: Hey Chrissie Hynde...US got Scoreboard

...or how about Warren Zevon's "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" or "Lawyers, Guns and Money" ("Dad, get me outta here!")

Roand was a warrior from the Land of the Midnight Sun
With a Thompson gun for hire, fighting to be done
The deal was made in Denmark on a dark and stormy day
So he set out for Biafra to join the bloody fray

Through sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo war
Fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore
For days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees
They killed to earn their living and to help out the Congolese

Roland the Thompson gunner...
Roland the Thompson gunner...

His comrades fought beside him - Van Owen and the rest
But of all the Thompson gunners Roland was the best
So the CIA decided they wanted Roland dead
That son-of-a-bitch Van Owen blew off Roland's head

Chorus: Harmony:

Roland the headless Thompson gunner
Roland the headless Thompson gunner
(Time, time, time
For another peaceful war
Norway's bravest son
But time stands still for Roland
'Til he evens up the score)

They can still see his headless body stalking through the night
In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun
In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun

Roland searched the continent for the man who'd done him in
He found him in Mombassa in a barroom drinking gin
Roland aimed his Thompson gun - he didn't say a word
But he blew Van Owen's body from there to Johannesburg

Roland the headless Thompson gunner...
Roland the headless Thompson gunner...
Roland the headless Thompson gunner...
The eternal Thompson gunner, still wandering through the night
Now it's ten years later but he still keeps up the fight
In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and Berkeley
Patty Hearst heard the burst of Roland's Thompson gun
And bought it

She's a dumb loudmouth. I caught her in concert one time (on a triple bill with Royal Crown Revue and the B-52s).

She asked the crowd if there were any meat eaters in the crowd, and then said that we should all choke on it!

She's been permitted back at the Woodlands whereas Ted Nuggent was banned for making a comment about how illegal aliens should not be permitted in this country. So someone who specifically told members of the audience to drop dead is tolerated while someone who asked for federal laws to be enforced was banned.

The left has not embraced a "peace movement". They support the Palestinian war with Israel and even tolerate suicide bombers.

I could care less what she says.

I'm a "Free-For-All" fella myself. Last Saturday night we were coming home from a family night at the movies and I hit the local classic rock station on the FM dial and low and behold, Free-For-All came on. Both my 14 and 11 year-old looked at me like I was nuts when I cranked it up and sang right along with Ted.

I had to explain to them that it was basically an anthem in our high school and Ted was a legend in our fragile little minds.

"When in doubt, I whip it out
I got me a rock-n-roll band,
It's a free-for-all..."

Oh, and my wife tried to get out and walk home when we stopped at the next light... ;-)

This is a great reason for Rush to ax the opening bumper.

Funny Enough, though,....Chrissie's mom is a Rush Limbaugh fan, which is why nothing came of a possible lawsuit regarding Rush using the Pretender's tune in his show.
