HATE PREACHER JAILED
A race-hate Muslim cleric convicted of calling for his followers to murder non-believers has been jailed for nine years.
An Old Bailey judge also recommended that Abdullah el-Faisal, 39, be deported when his sentence was served.
El-Faisal was found guilty last month of three charges of soliciting murder and three charges involving stirring up racial hatred.
The Jamaican told young British Muslims it was their duty to kill non-believers, Americans, Hindus and Jews.
Shock
He promised schoolboys they would be rewarded with 72 virgins in paradise if they died in a holy war.
In his defence, Faisal said he only preached what he had learned from the Koran.
The prosecution was the first of its kind in over 100 years.
The judge jailed el-Faisal for a total of seven years on three charges of soliciting murder and for two years on charges of using insulting words and distributing tapes of insulting words.
After the verdict it emerged judge Peter Beaumont had almost halted the trial halfway through after an apparent attempt to bribe him with £50,000.
Extremists
A group of around a dozen supporters looked shocked as el-Faisal was sentenced.
El-Faisal stretched out his arm to them as he was led away.
The fanatical cleric had links with other extremists and was associated with James Ujaama who is awaiting trial in the US for trying to set up a terrorist training camp.
El Faisal had formerly been a devout Christian but converted to Islam as a teenager and went on to study the faith in Saudi Arabia. He moved to Britain in the 1990s and later became Imam of the Brixton Mosque in south London.

When I saw the headline, my first thought was that some P.C. jurist had jailed a Christian preacher for speaking the truth about Islam!

In his defence, Faisal said he only preached what he had learned from the Koran. Well, he WASN'T lying about this. His defense DOES ring true, although unexcusable (for those about to jump on me).

In his defence, Faisal said he only preached what he had learned from the Koran. And that is precisely the problem.

And, your point is?His point is that Islam is not a religion of peace, but war and those that consider it a religion of peace are ignorant of the impearatives of the Koran or are backsliders.

Interesting. When I saw the title of this thread, I came here fully expecting to criticize any implimentation of "hate crime" legislation for how it violates our First Amendment rights. It's against a Muslim cleric though, so I guess it's ok.
He's also not American either, so that's ok too.
