I was thinking of this very same story a
few days back. I was wondering what the world would look like after a successful Iraqi war:
What part would France and Germany play, both in the region and in world affairs? How are the Democrats going to look in upcoming elections? Who will listen to (or attend) the next round of peacenik marches?
In other words, they don't want to pitch in and help, so why should they be rewarded?

In my story the little red hen pulls out a .45 and plugs the duck, the pig, and the cow as soon as they start griping. She then cuts them up and freexes them for the cold winter months.

The most current version includes a French Hen, a German Shepherd dog, and a Turkey Sandwich.

I recall seeing a different, and better version of this story.
The ending is different. Rather than living "happily ever after," the little red hen simply vows "never to bake a loaf of bread again." Much better.
It also contains the classic zinger, "And the pig just grunted."
