This brings back memories of the atrocities committed by Pol Pot after peace activists caused the military to be hogtied in SE Asia and eventually withdrawn.

If I read or hear one more article where the protesters of today are described as mainstream, or not your usual suspects, or average people I'm going to scream! Its like they are intentionally rewriting history.

I was at the 02 DNC as a joke, with the protestors outside. I have never in my life been around a more disgusting, disjointed, and anti capitalist rable in my life. There were a handful of anarchists who I had met earlier and made fun of to their faces in one of the high points of my existance(its a long story) who later threw bricks at cops or something and got the pathetic thing shut down. No big deal, everyone left orderly. We went home, turned on the TV- and every network was covering "massive riot" and we were stunned. It was truely Orwellian the way the TV totally rewrote the story. This press activity has the same appearance to me.

Anyhow, congrats Dix on getting mentioned in this, and adding the necessary perspective to these completely impractical anti Bush circle-jerks.

My guess is that the HTML autodetection code is just looking for tags (i.e. stuff like <i>), and thus character entities slip by it and get escaped out so that they appear just as you put them in.

Since we used a paragraph marking tag, &#9578; should show up as you intended. (You might want to use the non-magic number version, &ne;, which I hope looks just the same: &ne;. OK, they do look the same, just not the way I expected. Sigh. So, what's up with character entities?)

Absolutely. The peace pukes, to a certain extent, have made Hussein miscalculate. After dealing for 8 years with a POS in the White House, Hussein is really making a mistake.

People who want to get to work are going to be really p*ssed when the creeps are blocking bridges. There could be violence unless the police do their job and do it quickly without coddling them.

Exactly. I actually hope they pull this stunt on the wife of a few Newspaper Editors (they do get really really mad about this kind of behavior). :-)

Almost 100,000 backers have donated to Peace Action, one of the biggest anti-war groups, over the past six months, coordinators say.

DANG!!!
Why don't these get rich quick schemes ever occur to me first? At even $10.00 a donation, I could be laughing all the way to the bank. Way to go you parasites.

If anyone can help me on this, I would really appreciate it. I am so angry I can't even respond to this person. It was on the KCRA News Channel on whether or not we should go to war.... If any of you know how to put this person in his place, I would be so grateful.

Some also foresee widespread walkouts at schools and workplaces.

At the plant where I work, these people would not be very popular when/if they returned. All of the "hall talk" is in support of the president and support of the war if he thinks the time is right.

Seriously , time to carry a ball bat , and when these maggots block a bridge, use the bat to clear a pathway.

There is that, as well as sulfur dioxide (which, while non-toxic, nonetheless bears a fantastic "rotten egg" bouquet), mace, and pepper spray. Nothing clears a blockade like a good stinging stink...especially when the obvious leader of the group is the target.

There's a lot to be said for making citizens' arrests, too.

Good find OEB ! I was going to post it and FR search came to here!

Here's link where I found it on the Dallas Morning News, along with a pic they had too . . .

http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/ANTI_WAR_MOVEMENT?SITE=TXDAM&TEMPLATE=LATESTNATIONAL.html

Anti-war protester Brianna Binkerd-Dale, of CodePink Women for Peace, is removed by police officers from outside the gates of the north side of the White House in Washington Saturday, March 8, 2003. Hundreds of people rallied Saturday in cities around the nation in support of, and against, a possible war with Iraq. Several thousand people chanted and cheered in Washington as women united against war pledged to rally a nation of daughters, mothers and grandmothers in a push for peace. If that fails, though, activists are readying a more aggressive strategy of sit-ins and social disruptions, meant to restore peace in Iraq.

We'll be doing the same thing, shortly, in Iraq, that is, for their failure to adhere to UN Resolution 1441=War.

These Peaceniks are making President Bush's Case for him: if peaceful deliberations fail to attain a desired goal, then the next and final step is force of arms.

RE: " You sound like an ideal citizen for a fascist state...

Gee; thanks ever so much for that enlightenment, Komrade!(Assuming that we are not being "Sarcastic" here)

..."Americans believe in something called the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights."

We sure do, Komrade; and we're getting a little tired of you and your ilk wiping your sorry Stalinist bums with it.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that we have at least two distinct "Americas" here, one of which we suppose might come up in the end with some remnant of Liberty... if any come up at all.

I'm just wondering which one... and if we will ever be able to share the same Continent with one another again in Peace.

That old Civil War poster "To TRAITORS" (Thanks, BenLurkin - that's great!) is beginning to look grimly prophetic to me.

Are those blood stains on that old handbill, by the way?

How interesting.

Hey - Belisle; Where'd ya go? I just backed up to the thread and your post ain't there no mo!

Pity.

Just a guess, but if tactical means are used to disrupt American infrastructure, wouldn't that qualify as an act of terrorism? And during a time of War, "Treason"?

Would that not justify tactical remediation in accordance with the Acts of War?

Would someone kindly look that up for us?

Being compassionate Americans, unlike the regieme these UI's are supporting, we probably won't stoop to the the level of the Chicoms in Tiennimin Square, but I think these pinkoes (they even WEAR pink now!) need to know that as far as they want to push this, they may expect a certain modicum of counterpush - and not all of that might be coming from compassionate, sensitive, and understanding Public Servants.

Exactly. So why don't you just move to the People's Republic of China now and save yourself the trouble of screwing up our country? Over there, you'll find comfort in the fact that dissension = treason, and the 1st Amendmant doesn't exist.

This one? Isn't it a little early to be drinking?

It is probably redundant of me to say this, but we need to mobilize the power of Free Republic and other similar entities to counter these disgusting weasels.

There are many more of us than there are of them, but they are more vocal. As a result they have, in the past, been able to exert an influence well beyond their significance (with the support of the liberal media).

The following site is a good place to go and sign the petition. It is currently around 85000 names. If everyone here got 2 more people to sign it would be over 300,000 in a hurry. I don't see why it shouldn't be able to go into the millions with our help.

http://www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/hollywoodceleb/index.html

I would also appreciate knowing of more places where I can express my support for President Bush and our troops. Unlike the protesters, most of us are working people and can't go here and there, but we can use the internet in various ways to great advantage.

FOR EVERY ACTION THERE IS A EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION. THE PROTESTERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS.
