A Wisconsin legislative assistant announced his deployment with the National Guard to all Wisconsin legislative personnel--but ONLY to legislative personnel. The email (reproduced with Adobe at the URL above) stated that he and his Company would be deployed for at least one year and asked for the prayers of all.
In the return email, from an anonymous mailer service, an employee of the Wisconsin Legislature stated that he hoped the Republican Guard of Iraq would place a bullet "right between the eyes" of the Guardsman.
This is the sort of 'peaceful' opposition many have experienced. Let us hope that it is only a few, and further, that State of Wisconsin computer gurus are able to identify the perpetrator and publicly expose him or her for what they are.

It's almost embarassing to admit that I pay taxes to support the cretin who emailed the Guardsman.

Ask your state representative to look into the e-mail and ask for an investigation. I know that it is nearly impossible to trace, but it should at least be addressed as treasonous.

If you were to check the Red/Blue map of Wisconsin counties you would find a concentration of hate (blue) in the the area of our capital (Madison). This return e-mail is just one more example.

As I was listening to the Radio yesterday - a nice man from you neighboring state of MN called in to say that this is an unjust war - and that anybody who fights in this war as a soldier or a journalist or whatever is just a snake.
the enemy is right amongst us. we must be vigilant against the 'foreigners' but also against the Americans that would rise to destroy their own country.

Side note to this story:
Scott is an acquaintance of mine - we were both in the College Republicans at Wisconsin several years ago. The response to his e-mail likely had a dual purpose.
1) Yes - hatred of the military, and its mission in Iraq.
2) This is perhaps the greater reason. Scott Southworth was the original plaintiff in Southworh/Fry v. The Board of Regents at Wisconsin. His purpose for filing the case was to take down the segregated fee system that all students at Wisconsin pay part of their tuition to. (He was a law student when he filed.)
Naturally, defunding the segregated fee system at Wisconsin meant that liberal groups would have their usual source of funding cut. (WisPIRG got $70,000 from the seg fee fund at the time.) During the height of the case, Scott received numberous threats, and was enemy #1 of the leftists at UW.
Anyhow, many students at UW have internships in the Capitol, and many go to work there after finishing college. I'm guessing someone in one of the Dems' offices is/was a former UW student, and knows all about the case.

An outrageous statement, but are your REALLY in favor of spending state employees' time and attendant resources to "expose" someone for engaging in obnoxious, adolescent behavior?
I mean, c'mon, REALLY?

I heard this on Mark Belling's show yesterday. He pointed out that this guy actually wants to see the Iraqi's win. I wonder how many other lefties feel that way? This is repugnant and a sorry day for the land of cheese. Our only consolation is that it occurred in the People's Republic of Madison.

Well, Southworth's an atty, so he would have known whether, or not he could have subpoenaed the logs from the FL outfit. He only had 24 hours. Since it probably came from chuckwalla's office anyway, they probably forwarded it deep enough for no trace.

There may be server logs at the Capitol. Go to the day the e-mail was sent and see if the webpage of the remailer was accessed - and by whom.
