My son is at Camp Pendleton. I just called my dad and he said today is "family day" at the base. Last chance to say good-bye before the troops head out. My son called me from Pendleton. He was enroute to Taco Bell for lunch with his buddies. We swapped info about where to find his W2 and POA so I can do his taxes for him.
We made a 910 mile drive from Pocatello to San Diego to visit with him last Friday and Saturday. He introduced his girl friend. Before we left, she was his fiancee. He had been holding onto the ring for 2 weeks prior to getting his mobilization order.

My parents went to visit my brother this week. He's not scheduled to deploy yet, but...

I understand your concern, my son is a medic at Ft. Hood and will be leaving in a few weeks. God bless them. I teach high school and most young men have no interest in history until they get out and join the military and then it becomes some important to understand the past in order to live in the future. I am so proud of my son as I know you are of yours. I will say a prayer everyday for all the fine young men and women that serve the USA. God bless and take care.

Prayer to Saint Michael
Saint Michael, Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And you, Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
May God bless and protect all your loved ones. Thank them for me.

You dont have to do his taxes. That stuff is automatically put on hold while in a combat zone.

If you are out of the country on April 15, then your filing date is much later. It is listed in the instruction manual. And from that date, you can request a further extension of three months. It is also my understanding that a serviceman in a combat zone has another type of extension. Check with the IRS. (Of course, if he is due a refund, file as soon as possible.)
