[history]
Was that really the president of France on KROQ/106.7 FM Wednesday morning?
Members of the radio station's morning team, Kevin and Bean, insist it was. Impersonating comedian Jerry Lewis, KROQ DJ Ralph Garman called the president's office and, after a long hold, was put in touch with Jacques Chirac.

Is this the same DJ guy that called the el Presidente of Venesuela Hugo Chavez pretending to be his buddy Castro?
LMAO didnt he get into enough trouble?

KROQ must be taking a huge KRAP over this GAF. This is the kind of stunt where they can lose jobs and a license.
I don't hear them laughing, do you?

We have a right to call whoever the hell we want.
They're a comedy team and allowed to slander as part
of their routine.
If anything happens, there should be a lawsuit.

Chirac said he was worried, too, but said that the two countries would always be friendsYup, that had to really be Chirac. He's delusional enough to believe that.

Can you take/fake another persons name legally in radio without permission to gain access in their name? There's no slander or trademark violation in radio?

I agree with you. If it had been a comedy routine, whoever was playing him would have said something more ridiculous (at the least) and probably would have criticized American food and "cowboys". Chirac actually speaks fairly good English, unusually for a French politician of his generation. The call probably was genuine.

Maybe friends means something different in France.
