COMBINED Live Thread: DC Chapter's Rally in Support of Our Troops / C-SPAN Live Coverage of Leftists
DC Chapter, Free Republic

Posted on 03/15/2003 6:23:04 AM PST by FreeTheHostages

Good morning. It's a beautiful day in the nation's capital, but the beauty is about to be marred by

Their leftist rally would be covered on CSPAN live starting at noon.

As explained here, here, their anti-American voices will not go unchallenged. The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has invited all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us this Saturday, March 15, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. as we hold a patriotic counter-protest of the so-called anti-war march being held by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. in Washington, D.C.

I'll be staying at home, nursing a cold that has left me voiceless (hee hee, no doubt to the secret pleasure of many chapter members! ;), handling the live thread. Let's do a combined live thread on the C-SPAN coverage of the leftists and my reports from the field on what's going on with the Right guys, OK?

Today's early morning news, if you're waking up, is that some time before 10 a.m. on our local Channel 4 (NBC), our Chapter Warlord, Kristinn, will be interviewed on why we are expressing a support-our-troops message.

While professing to be against war and racism, the groups behind this march have strong overtones of anti-semitism and support communist governments that wage war on their own people and other nations.

The D.C. Chapter will be making a patriotic moral stand against the marchers' anti-Americanism and willful silence about the barbaric, terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein.

We will also be sending a message of support to our men and women in uniform fighting the war on terrorism overseas and on the home-front.

Survivors of Saddam's reign of terror, many of whom are American citizens, will join us to put the lie to those who claim that the Iraqi people do not want to be liberated and to speak out about Saddam's crimes against humanity.

When: Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: North sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 15th Street and 9th Street. Meet at 15th and Penn. at 1 p.m.

Bring: American and Gadsden flags (large and small), along with signs bearing messages supporting our troops, President Bush, America and the war on terror.

Weather: Mostly sunny, temps in the low 60s.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Yeah, I was busy on the live thread during most of the rally so I'm seeing some of this stomach-turning stuff for the first time now. Hey, tell Kristinn I've got videotape of him smoking in the background of W04man's shot on FOX news national, LOL! :) Like we need evidence that he smokes! :)

You guys are tireless.

Well put! Stand up.

Tgsl, I've seen a lot of promos for late evening news that indicate they're going to have "full coverage" of the protests today on the local channels. So you might want to check that out at 11 p.m.

I guess I'll never make a good leader, because I just called the America-hating maggots - America-hating maggots.

LOL. If you didn't exist, we'd have to invent you. {{{Tgsltakoma}}} I must say I stand proudly beside you on this point.

I was on Channel 5's 10:00 news tonight, but get this.

The lead-in was "thousands took to the streets today to protest a possible war." They then cut to a shot of me and my sign at the FREEP, which read "Students for Extra Credit Against the War." I was chanting "I got Monday off for being here." Idiots! Too funny.

Thank you for posting the live thread and tending to it so dilligently, especially when you have been so sick. We missed you out on the streets. But we had a great day for protesting and we have 300 + people on our block (I know, Taxman and I handed out around 140 small flags and I personally walked from one end to the other counting people who came out to stand on our side of Pennsylvania Avenue).

FReep On!

Thousands of people gathered in Atlanta, Georgia, waving American flags and shouting slogans and similar rallies are planned in other cities, including San Francisco, California, and Seattle, Washington.
You betcha!
BUMP for the WONDERFUL DC FReepers & friends! The posting of pictures contrasting the Anti-War protestors with us Patriots, is astounding... Look at them... you can see their black hearts. a dark aura seems to hang over them, anger, dirtiness, they are filled with hate. I want ALL Americans to see these photos!

10:45 p.m. I reserve a rentar car to drive to Philly tomorow. I'm just tired of being sick and I have to.

11:15 p.m. I try to conduct a phone call on the day's events which I missed with Angelwood, but my voice gives out and when I try to continue the conversation whispering, Angelwood insists I go to sleep.

11:30 p.m. A friend tells me n no uncertain terms that I'll be physically restrained from exiting the premises tomorrow, as sick as I am, if I try to leave.

11:40 p.m. I reluctantly cancel my rental car reservation.

KNOWN FACT: I DO NOT MAKE A GOOD SICK PATIENT. I GET VERY STUBBORN AND WILLFUL AND DEFIANT ABOUT THE WHOLE THING. Further known fact: I have so *always* wanted to see the flag balloon and to attend, ahem, an actually *large* support our troops rally. Sigh sigh sigh. Please know I'm there in spirit.

ROFL. YourAdHere, you are very funny. At the risk of insulting everyone else in the chapter including myself (but hey, I'm on serious cold medicine, what the hey), it's really a three-way tie for witty on the signs between you and RodgerD and our Doctor Raoul.

Wish I was there today, sounds like fun.

I didn't think it was fun there today, though others did. Seeing the anti-war protesters is like watching the movie Groundhog Day, where you see the same shit over and over again. It gets old. Your mileage may vary.

It's probably for the best.

We will be in New Jersey in July. Come see us then. We will have better odds of inflating anyway. Winter/Spring weather is VERY unpredictable.

Raoul is next to her I think.

No, that wasn't Dr. Raoul next to her. I don't know this guy's name. Dr. Raoul stood about 25 feet to the right of this picture, for the duration.

Fascinating. An interesting debate. I'm with hobblemaster: each time I see these space aliens who like Saddam and think Bush is a war criminal and Ramsey Clark isn't, I can't say I'm not fascinated. It doesn't ever bore me. Back when I was a prosecutor, the pathos of every new crime always "clung" to me. There were other prosecutors who would yawn and say, "oh, yeah, I've had several assaults with intent to kill like that, with permanent maiming," as if there was nothing new under the sun. Because for them, even if the most fantastically weird and violent things could become familiar or boring with repetition. I just never found them becoming familiar or boring with repetition. Same thing with these leftists: my jaw drops just as much each time. Both of your reactions are "valid," to do the psychobabble, I'm just noting that your differing reactions reminds me of differing reactions of prosecutors to repetition of the same crime types.
