Interesting development. I'm happy to see that the Germans have joined the coalition in some way. Today France offered to send chemical weapons specialists in the event of chemical warfare in Iraq. Could it be that these countries have assisted in the production of chemical weapons by Iraq, and they're now feeling guilty (and politically vulnerable) about providing this assistance?

The Germnans sent in decontamination units a while back, but said they would only be used in Kuwait, not Iraq. Has that changed?

There are German chemical warfare guys there already, I think. And it's their Fox vehicle that we use for chem/bio/nuke detection. Maybe they're sending more.

They want in on the reconstruction, and probably want their "chemical weapons specialists" in there to scrape all the made in Germany / France labels off the chemical munitions.

I think El Rushbo might be mistaken. There are German Army NBC decon units in Kuwait, but they've always been there, under the UN mandate for Kuwaiti defense.
The German government has specifically stated that these units will NOT be used outside of the limits of Kuwait and they will NOT assist Coalition forces in decons outside the restricted area of the German units.

There are German chemical warfare guys there already, I thinkCorrect, and last week they said they wouldn't come to the aid of American troops if we launch an attack.

This is good news, but my favorite part of Rush's show today is when he called Tom Daschle's "Patriotism Pause" bill the "Patriotism Menopause."
Well, it amused me.

Honestly, these two nations take the cake. First they state that nobody can prove that Iraq has any WMDs, thus they can't participate on good concience. Then they slither back into the coalition by addressing the possibility that Iraq may use chemical weapons, so they can't in good concience refrain from supporting the coalition.
These two nations used every method known to man short of taking up arms against us, then attempt to slither back into the fold.
Contemptable, thy name be France and Germany.
To: carl in alaska
I thought Germany and France were convinced Saddam didn't have WMD so why would they think we need decontamination specialists? Ooops, maybe they were deceptive?
