The 11 o'clock news has just announced that a box containing "bird brain matter" being shipped thru FedEx has exploded at the FedEx terminal on Gateway Blvd., possibly contaminating several employees at the hub. Hazmat crews and the fire dept. are on the scene. Details are scarce, but I will post more as I locate details.

Now I ask you, what could possibly cause bird brains to become explosive? The preservative?

Hopefully, it didn't affect the conveyor belts and get all over all the freight... (that goes all over the country). Is this a ground or an air facility?

They were being shipped from one lab to another to study the virus, but I couldn't catch the destination or point of origination fast enough. All I got so far was that the box was full of brain matter from contaminated birds. Maybe someone else from Columbus will pop in and add to this...

I really, really hope it wasn't from Singapore or Hong Kong, where the CDC is now researching the new viral pneumonia...

It's close to Columbus International, so it may be air AND ground.

Inbound packages from SIN and HKG are usually cleared in Anchorage or Oakland, CA, I believe.

Exploding bird brains

For a moment I thought the anti-war protestors had taken to suicide bombing.

Noooooo....they had ALREADY been tested, they were being shipped from one lab to another for FURTHER testing. That's why HAZMAT is on the scene and the place has been evac'ed.

What is it with Ohio this week? First the Cincinnati bomb squad blows up a suitcase containing bananas and floor tiles and now bird brains self destructingin Columbus. I'm going to hide in Indiana the rest of the week.

I think the issue is that they were being shipped from lab to another to be tested for possible contamination. So they don't know for sure, but the chances are high.
