I just heard KFBK announce that San Francisco protestors were blocking up all the traffic in San Francisco. Any Bay Area freepers who know what's going on there? Is it another "Crital Mass" party or is it worse? Anyone have photos?

Does San Francisco really
have a "financial district?" Sounds strange for a city renowned for its Communism even within the People's Republic of California. My contacts who have experience in the area tell me that the Bay area would be a great place to live--if only the present inhabitants were rounded up and carted off to the jails where they belong.
If these "protests" are a major problem, I think that they ought to mandate automatic jail time and deny bail. For impeding traffic as part of an organized conspiracy or for intentionally vomiting or defacating on public streets, say 8 months for a first offense, 24 months for a second offense, 5 years for a third offense (felony conviction), 18 years for a fourth offense, 50 years for a fifth offense, life for a sixth offense, and death for a seventh offense. I hope. When multiple sentences are assigned, they will be served consecutively. Upon release, assign the prisoners to a probation term during which each parollee must perform community service, obey the law, and hold a legitimate full-time job. Or else it's back to the slammer for another year, plus any other time sentenced.

Just got out of downtown S.F., a group of about 20 SFPD were gearing up on the blocked street.. I asked them if they had an extra batton I could use..
One laughed and said "Don't we WISH ! ! "

I hope that the employers of these disgusting protesters (the few that actually hold a job) see their pictures on the local news and in the paper and give them the boot tomorrow!
Also, these pictures inspire me to buy pepper spray to keep in my car and on me at all times.

I hope that the employers of these disgusting protesters (the few that actually hold a job) see their pictures on the local news and in the paper and give them the boot tomorrow! I think you've got it all wrong. Most of these people don't work for honest, respectable capitalist businesses. They scavenge off others. Most probably work as social workers or somewhere in the non-profit sector (many of which live off government grants). Others are probably just college students who hope they'll work for a non-profit some day. Then there are probably the odd trust fund babies who are desperately looking for a cause to validate their existence (no offense meant toward conservatives who live off trust funds) and the odd 50+ former hippy grabbing on to some midlife crisis excitement. Oh, yeah, and the majority of the young men are there because they're hoping to get some free and easy sex.

Trust me on this one.
He was student body president at San Francisco State, if that tells you anything.
Gotta go.

It is called the "financial district," but how much finance is actually carried on here any more I can't tell you. There is still a significant business base in downtown SF, however, and that stems from the fact that despite the eye-catching antics of some of the unemployed segments of the populace, there is a core of well-educated, hard-working employees here. When I first moved to SF (I was transfered), I too was shocked by the number of homeless (read "bums") and the squalid state of the City's political establishment. After meeting our neighbors, members of our church, and parents at our kids school, however, I discovered that many people here are honest, hard-working, and if not conservative, at least "middle of the roaders." San Francisco has unfortunately become a magnet for those who want a free ride (the bums) or want to act out their fantasies. In other words they are from somewhere else, and have simply gravitated here. The politicians have no doubt abetted that gravitation, but things seem to be changing (slowly I grant you). Here's Willie Brown on today's protestors:
"Mayor Willie Brown said the Police Department will keep the streets open and the city will run 'business as usual.' He also said the protesters who shut down traffic were counterproductive. "I've got to assume that these people are so misguided that they are actually aiding the enemy by doing what they are doing," Brown said. "Most of these people who are being arrested and have been arrested, probably more than 75 or 80 percent, are not San Franciscans. I just wish they'd stay in their own communities and protest rather than put the expense on us."
The Bay Area attracts the nation's weirdos, and San Francsico attracts the Bay Area's weirdos. Not a happy prospect for a great City, but I for one am not going to surrender it to the enemy, and am going to do all I can to change its political culture.
I agree with your graduated system of penalties for disrupters. There should be no "catch and release," and the second and subsequent offenses should be felonies. Remember, in Ronald Reagan's home state "three strikes and your out" is the law.
Now for those of you out there in other parts of the country who may be missing a few of your indigenous nuts, would you come out here and take 'em home.
