Iraq anti aircraft shot down an invading jet over Baghdad Saturday, the al-Arabiya television channel said.

The aircrafts pilot-a woman-and its co-pilot parachuted safely but were captured by Iraqi forces.

I think your agenda is overheating. There is no dishonor to present women patriots defending our freedom involved here. Just a friendly discussion, in general terms, about who is appropriate to serve in the military.

Honey....I am against women in combat or aboard carriers etc. That is simply my opinion.

I have not seen anyone on this thread wishing anything but the best for any of our women who might be in harm's way over there now.

I would much prefer to see a man captured or killed by our enemy than any women who may be at risk....if it is going to happen which of course it will since this is a war.

They really need our support right now - and you have a right to be concerned about the military policies put in place by X42. Your support, and the support of every veteran, means a great deal to those who fight right now, and the failures of any policy that is not working will become horribly apparent over the next few weeks. OTOH, anything that works will be revealed.

No, you're not a monster, you're just putting your opinion out there. Perhaps we need to start another thread to address these legitimate concerns, one where it would not besmirch those who now may need our support most of all. Being a POW in Iraq is all hell.

I appreciate you saying you support them - they need it. Parents of troops NEED to hear this right now - and I will be among them soon... I am PROUD of my daughter.

As an astute poster pointed out previously, it's probably a load of crap. They try this school yard psy-ops garbage all the time. Bad propaganda designed to diminish morale and scare people.

Neither am I. Truth be told, I'm still miffed about women being allowed into the Academies. The Warrior Culture is long dead, and I have serious doubts that it'll ever be revived.

I beg to differ but some have suggested that these women were shot down because they were inferior, gay, or incompetent. That is wrong, and it is a slap in the face of those who may have just gone down under fire and are possibly in enemy hands.

I will NEVER AGAIN stand idly by and let people run our troops down - for any reason. I am sick of those ****ing protestors, I'm sick of goldbricking soccermoms who whine, and I'm sick of people running down the men and women who give up their lives for us. I'm proud of my service. Combat doesn't happen with out logistics. If you don't understand that, you don't understand the basics.

So...back to our original point. I'm truly interested. What makes you say that commanders won't let women into combat? Do you have some personal experience or know someone who has said that commander keep female aviators out of combat.
