One part of being "done" is admitting that you have been corrected.

Just cuz you fly in combat doesn't mean you get a DFC. Do you, or do you not stand by your post #57?

Lets just concentrate on the "safety and well being" of the female pilot mentioned in the thread introduction rather then beating a dead horse!!

I must tell you there is a very strong bond among pilots and so far you have not claimed to be one!!

I don't need to be a pilot to make comments. So far, mine have been much more accurate than anny's. She made an absolutely incorrect statement, then beats around the bush, insults me, then has to call her hubby to clean up the mess.

Fact: Women DO fly in combat.

...and, this report is probably bogus.

I will agree with you, women are now able to fly in Combat Aircraft. However, that is not to say that they are intentionally placed in Direct Combat Situations.

Now, please stop your incessent fixation on this topic.

Thank you.

Female AH-64 pilot. Suprised me as well.

We've had female Apache pilots since 1994.

Female pilots are not intentionally given these missions.

Most are assigned to Combat Support roles and do a damned good job of it!!

killed due to pilot error on her first carrier landing (it may have been her first night carrier landing).

Incorrect. Hultgreen flew Intruders, for which she was carrier qual'd, prior to F-14s, for which she was also carrier qual'd. She also was carrier qual'd at Pensacola while a student. She had a number of traps and she crashed in broad daylight on her final attempt.

Her gunner ejected safely.

The other crewmember was a RIO - Radar Intercept Officer, not a gunner. Hultgreen was actually the trigger puller on that bird and we know she didn't eject safely.

Thanks form the clarification but you know damn well she had 7 washouts in the F-14 landings prior to her first F-14 carrier attempt which took her life. More than enough to have canned a male flyer according to the Navy personnel who reported this and were fired for their efforts.

Incorrect, once again. I suggest you spend some time in Operations at a forward operating area or in the Ready Room onboard a carrier or LHA/LHD and read a few manifests. Or maybe you can catch a flight to Kuwait and visit 1st Lieutenant Vernice Armour USMC who at this very minute is flying combat missions in Operation Iraqi Freedom. She flies AH-1W attack helicopters, intentionally.

Incorrect. She was carrier qual'd in an F-14 at the FRS. She was in a fleet squadron, VF-213, when she screwed the pooch. She had previously successfully trapped an F-14 on a carrier. This was not her first attempt. I'm not defending the poor decision to put an unqualified pilot in the cockpit of an F-14, just stating the facts.

Thank you, sir. Girls do not belong on the Bridge!!!

Our Creator has given us all special skills/roles, when we attempt to blend and/or modify them, the result is always something less than what was intended.

You should have responded to wardaddy for his comment, not me.

Are your bags packed to go and visit Lieutenant Armour?

"Are your bags packed to go and visit Lieutenant Armour"

Rather childish, don't you think?

I stated my opinion as a mature female/pilot.

I've never met any gay Conservatives.

Al Rantel is a conservative talk radio host on KABC and a very intellectual conservative.

She was the first woman "qualified" to fly carrier correct?

Along with the later dismissed woman (whose name I can't recall...Lorenzo??) and who has since filed suit against the Navy for not being given carrier status?

Please enlighten me...I'm not flaming.

BTW...what is your view on women in combat. You seem to be better up to speed on the facts than I.
