MOSCOW, April 3. The Central Muslim Spiritual Board in Russia has declared jihad or 'holy war' on the United States. As RTR television channel reports, this was announced today by Supreme Mufti in Russia Talgat Tadjuddin.
He added that this is only the second time since the beginning of the 20th century that jihad has been declared on another country in Russia. The first jihad was declared by Russian Muslims on Germany in 1941. 'Russian Muslims have effective ways of opposing the US. For example, we are going to raise money to buy weapons for the war against Iraq and to provide food for the Iraqi people,' said the mufti. Mr Tadjuddin did not give details of what jihad would actually involve. However, he emphasised that results of the Islamic holy war would already be visible within 2-3 days.

58% of Russians want Iraq to win the war. 3% want the USA to win. Saw this in the crawler on Fox today. Get in line, Russia; the list is getting long.

I find it so ironic that the Muslim clerics from other countries are calling for a "jihad" while the clerics from Iraq are asking the citizens to help the American soldiers.
Muslims who haven't had to live under the rule of Saddam's regime should keep their damn mouths shut!

I find it curious that England and Australia have troops side by side with America yet it's America that's at the top of the popularity poll for jihad-ing.
To: miltonim
Damn. How many jihads do we have on us now? Must be two dozen at least. I saw the other day that our old friend Mullah Omar, formerly of the former Taliban, declared yet another jihad on us. I guess the first one wasn't enough punishment for him. |

Russia in Iraq -- the Hidden Presence

http://www.inatoday.com/russiainiraq.htm ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A leading Muslim organization in Russia with close ties to the Russian government is calling for a "holy war" against the U.S. The Central Islamic Leadership only once before issued a call for a "holy war" - when Hitler invaded the USSR during WWII.
More than 3,000 Muslim congregations with a combined membership of 20 million believers belong to the Central Islamic Leadership. The chairman of the organization, Grand Mufti Talgat Tadschuddin, is urging his followers to use their money to buy weapons and supplies for use against the U.S. and in support of Iraq, according to a report in the German newsmagazine, Der Spiegel.
Although the Russian Federation is currently fighting against Islamic militants within its borders, Moscow has close relations with "established" Muslim organizations throughout Russia."

WASHINGTON TIMES.com (AFP): "Stalinist state to buy missiles from Russia"
http://www.washtimes.com/world/20030404-1376333.htm April 4, 2003
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "TOKYO (Agence France-Presse) North Korea, locked in a nuclear standoff with the United States, plans to import leading-edge Russian missile and rocket systems via Syria to upgrade its ballistic missiles, a newspaper reported yesterday.
The Stalinist state is expected to use the hardware, including the high-tech tactical missile Iskandar-E and the multiple-launch rocket system Smerch, to upgrade the guidance system and other functions of its long-range missiles, the Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun said.
North Korea and Syria have a secret deal on the trade, possibly based on an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, the conservative daily quoted military sources as saying.
The science and technology accord was signed when North Korea's No. 2 official, Kim Yong-nam, the head of the Supreme People's Assembly, visited Syria in July last year.
At that time, Mr. Kim handed to Syrian President Bashar Assad a personal letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, calling for closer ties between the two countries.
North Korean missile engineers are already in Syria to prepare for the arrival of the Russian hardware, the report said. They are expected to arrange the further undercover shipment of the hardware by sea to North Korea."
