HILLARY'S BOOK DISASTER: Tell-All Doesn't Tell Nearly Enough
National Enquirer ^ | 4/24/03 | anonymous

Posted on 04/24/2003 1:05:54 PM PDT by tellw

Hillary Clinton is balking at spilling sordid secrets in her $8 million book -- and a behind-the-scenes war with her publisher is getting ugly!

The ENQUIRER has learned that Hillary's tardiness in finishing her White House memoirs is only half the story. The real battle is over what's going to be in the book -- and what's not.

"Simon & Schuster shelled out one of the biggest advances in history for the form-er First Lady to write a down-and-dirty tell-all," a well-placed publishing source told The ENQUIRER.

"At the time, the Clinton marriage seemed to be disintegrating and Hillary told them she'd be totally candid -- because she didn't expect to be married to Bill when the book came out.

"But the Clintons are somehow keeping their marriage afloat.

"So Hillary is backing away from writing a detailed account of Bill's sexual adventures -- from Arkansas to Monica -- and of her personal feelings.

"She now plans to turn the book into a sanitized version of her life, along with tips for women on how to hold it together while not tarnishing the ideals of feminism.

"Instead of finally revealing the truth about her marriage, it looks like Hillary's book will be a whitewash.

"The folks at Simon & Schuster are livid -- and they've told her so."

Hillary's book was due to be on store shelves in August. To meet that deadline, the book had to be at the printers by May.

"But Hillary's not only late with her manuscript, she has no title for it!" the source added.

"With no manuscript and no title, there can be no marketing campaign and few advance sales."

But Hillary's not the only Clinton with a book problem.

Hubby Bill inked an even more stunning deal -- for $12 million -- and he hasn't even started writing yet!

"He needs his story to be in sync with whatever Hillary says -- and since she hasn't said anything yet, he can't get very far," said another publishing insider.

"By next year, there could well be two publishers with two very big gripes against two very troublesome Clintons."

As for Simon and Sheister, I hope they lose a bundle.

I'm with you...I remember being furious that this company was groveling over Hillary's book deal to the point where they got the deal done quickly so Hillary could get the big advance prior to some deadline for Senatorial rules regarding book advances...let them lose money BIG TIME...

it's about time for all the Clinton lackeys to come to grips with the truth and keep this woman and her pathetic husband off the public stage for the sake of our country and my mental health! They are white trash and nothing more.

This is a great story, if true. I know the Enquirer is sometimes ahead of the game with the so called legitimate media, but still, you do have to wonder. I never expected Hillary to tell the truth anyway! I don't think she ever has or will.

I'd theorize that the $8 mill (or whatever part of it she actually pocketed) was a down payment on services to be rendered which S&S has yet to receive. Has there been a recent change at the top at S&S? That could explain the leaks to the Enquirer!

My Ass! S&S are acting so offended. They knew all along! This was a way of giving money to the Clintons - pure and simple. Anyone who bought this story is wonderfully naive and stupid!

Hope Simon & Schuster has $8 million worth of ice to put on that.

They never expected a profit - this is a campaign contribution through sleezy techniques.

The only way to stop this funneling of S&S money is through their revenues and their excutives who are suppose to be accountable for making a profit for this company. Unless ALL THE shareholders are Democrats into losing money, then I think there is some accountability due - BIG TIME!

I doubt that S & S were gullible. They probabaly expected a "limited, modified hangout" kind of a book. They probably didn't realize that not all the guys in the Senate are girly-men, thus the Hillary isn't that powerful or popular b/c of her doings there, she has no vignettes to write about, plus she hopes to protect X42's chances to push Kofi off his throne at the UN.

I think part of the picture is that Simon & Schuster is owned by Viacom. For Viacom (that also owns CBS), the $8 million is pocket change.

Perhaps Hillary needs a ghost writer?

Hillary had a ghost writer for the village idiot book. Typical of her lowness, the ghost writer got no credit.

I'm curious as to why they keep up the charade too. I think she keeps him around for fundraising only.

Spouses cannot be forced to testify against each other, and there is no statute of limitations on murder.

"Wow, someone got screwed after trusting the Clintons? Who would have guessed?"

I recall a former "friend" saying that there are only two types of Clinton friends: those who have been f**ked by the Clintons and those who are going to be f**ked by the Clintons.

I hate Bill and Hillary so badly...

Why do I have this almost uncontrolable urge to barf?

I hope America
is as sick of Hillarys'
power-lust as we are.

The very sight of her
is repulsive.

I love American too much
to ever say Yes'm to this Queen.

This is all a bunch of crap. Simon & Shuster knew what they were getting. IMO, it was a way to funnel money to the Clintons. Now they need to make it look like they were taken in by them.

I think they REALLY were gullible. They thought that because they were part of the liberal-elitist-intellectual crowd they surely wouldn't be stiffed by the liberal-elitist-intellectual Clintons. They acutally believed they were all one little happy family. A happy family, that is until the Clintons got $ in their eyes, then all bets are off.
