WASHINGTON (CNN) --The White House on Wednesday strongly defended President Bush's national address last week from an aircraft carrier, rejecting Democratic criticism that the president's dramatic arrival on the USS Abraham Lincoln was little more than a campaign event for a president up for re-election in 2004.

This event was one of the most inspiring and beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. Lots of us feel that way. That's what's driving them nuts.

"Mission Accomplished?"-nothing. nada. zip.......

That's not entirely true. Included on this particular junket was What's-Her-Name, Slick's secretary and chief minder, who was the go-between and procuress in the Monica affair. Reports at the time the story broke stressed her Christian faith and disgust with Bubba. She was supposed to be ready to sing to the grand jury. After the trip to Africa, her attitude was straightened out and she clammed up.

BTW, that was also the "bongos trip" where Slick celebrated the (premature) dismissal of the Paula Jones lawsuit with a cigar and bongo slapping (supposedly Slick did not know he was being filmed - yeah right, and he also did not know he was being filed while dancing with Hillary (in matching swimsuits, no less!) to imaginary music on a "deserted" beach).

You have a point. I was thinking that the dims would use the landing/costs as a way of saying something like "While gays are dieing of aids in San Fransico, George Bush was out wasting the governments (Not our) money....blah blah blah."

I for one don't think ketchup boy will be there in the end so the military issue should be dead as it should be. He's proven his leadership and compassion to me.

Listen, that was the mother of all photo ops. Going to the carrier didn't require him to be in the co-pilot seat, and I bet the Secret Service freaked when they heard of the plans.

That said, GOOD for Bush! The Dems have done FAR worse throughout the Klintoon years, so lets have at it. Fight fire with fire, and at least Bush IS a fighter pilot!

No apologies needed from our Commander in Chief. As Peggy Noonan said on Scarborough on MSNBC Monday night, President Bush let our servicemen and women know that he was willing to put his life in their hands, as they put their lives on the line for all of us each day. No better tribute I can think of. I am looking forward to seeing the reruns on the big screen at the Republican Convention!

Well, muleDemon (member since May 7, 2003), since President Bush WAS NOT AWOL, I think that you should rethink your concerns.

Admin Moderator, I would recommend monitoring this person's comments. I am highly suspicious.

They should start selling prints of GW in flight suit immediately as a fund raiser for conservatives. That'll cause some gaskets to blow. Dims don't like it? T.F.B

My fear is that this may provoke a discussion of Bush's service record.

Nice try...

I notice that the 'w***nker' word appears regularly now on this forum.

Just for info, in Britain it is a very bad word - right up there with 'f**k' etc.

Excellent resources! Thank you.

Speaking of "authentic war heroes," wasn't there some flap about John Kerry and his war service a year or so ago? I can't remember what the issue was.

In an interview with CNN, Waxman said Bush used the troops as a "political prop for his re-election campaign" and called on the Bush campaign to reimburse taxpayers for the costs.

Is it not astounding the breathtaking speed with which the Dems can turn on and off their concern for the taxpaying citizen?

My response would be to come up with a list of similar "trips" by Waxman (which I can guess in confidence exist without even looking it up, just by the nature of both the Dems and the modern state in general), shove them in his face and ask him if he's going to pay them back.

"Bring it on," said one senior official said of the Democratic criticism. "If they think there is something to be gained by investigating and criticizing the president for going out to welcome the troops home, they are even more ridiculous than I thought."

And that my friends, should be the last word on the subject.
