I've had it.

Posted on 05/20/2003 8:43:51 AM PDT by BeerSwillr

I've had it with illegal aliens, illegal immigration, and the complicit attitude of US immigration policy!

My 16 year old has been looking for a summer job for the last 3 months, what he's found has been surprising. Not only are there no summer jobs available, there are no jobs available, period, for someone with no experience.

So you say he's not looking hard enough? That the jobs are there, you just have to find them. HA!

All the entry level, low skill jobs that would normally be taken by teenagers and young adults during the summer are being taken by illegal immigrants, at least here in Texas. The few places that don't hire illegals have to contend with 10 or more applicants for each open position.

So who is this hurting you ask? Just a few teenagers who will be back in school in a couple of months? Just a few teenagers that will contribute little to the overall economic picture? WRONG!

You know the answer. It's hurting everyone. Teenagers would spend almost every penny they earned, contributing immensely to the overall economic health of the US. They would be in the malls, movie theaters, and restaurants spending their hard earned pay, leaving their parents free to spend their money on something else.

The illegal aliens? They used to maintain a low profile. Now, they don't bother. They can be seen everywhere; mowing lawns, planting trees, roofing & framing houses, working at the lube shack, pouring concrete, gathering at several official and unofficial day worker hang-outs in the mornings (when it would be extremely easy for immigration to swoop in and arrest them.)

Where you don't and won't see them is out spending their money (except for at Wal-Mart.) You don't see them at Bennigans, Chilis, Tony Romas, Cinemark, the mall, car dealerships, etc.

Know why?

They don't have any money to spend on the US economy because they're sending everything except a small subsistence back to Mexico.

The illegals are not here to help us or the US economy. Anyone that says they are here to take jobs that US citizens don't want is being disingenuous.

They're siphoning off millions of dollars a year from the economy. Not only by taking jobs, but a host of other ways; education benefits, medical assistance, government assistance, thievery, robbery, drug dealing, you name it, they're involved in it.

And what is the Department of Homeland Security™ doing about this? They're putting on a dog and pony show.

They're outlining major new methods of monitoring ports of entry, airports, etc. with biometrics, fingerprinting, radar, facial recognition technology, and who knows what else, while at the same time doing nothing to monitor thousands of miles of open space where, apparently, it is relatively easy to cross into the US.

It seems to me that simple reconnaissance flights over that vast unmonitored territory would be able to identify these border violations and put a stop to, or at least slow, this illegal invasion of our country.

The Department of Homeland Security™ is largely ignoring the issue. Illegal entry into the US continues unabated across our borders.

It makes me sick.

What can we do about it? Other than mew weakly and post articles like this on the large wasteland that is the internet?

Contact your elected officials and let them know what you're thinking. Let them know you will hold them accountable. It's all in our hands.

I hope you're not serious. The borders should be open.

Well then, you win. They are porous, open, and pose not the slightest obstacle to illegal immigrant, terrorist, contraband, or whatever.

History books are replete with events such as this, though perhaps not direct through references to your description of this 'epic, titanic invasion of literally millions of illegals that are pouring into America'

If you mean that history books are replete with tales of invasions, then I agree.

But the sheeple will believe almost anything, if repeated often enough.

Like the often repeated Open Borders Mantra: "We are a Nation of Immigrants". While this is true in a number of respects, the manner and context this slogan is used today by rabid immigration advocates is to suggest that our government should have NO Control over the Number and Origin of immigrants that want to come to America every year. Also there is rarely any distinction made between legal or illegal immigrants. Who is the Radical Here?

In fact a few weeks ago a Freeper told me point blank that America has NO Right to put ANY kind of restrictions on immigration. That all immigration should be Unlimited. When I replied that this of course is an open invitation to be taken over by countries like Red China I never got a response back. Apparently it's just the image of an America with No Borders that turns these people on. There is NO active thought process involved.

1) They are undocumented immigrants, not illegal aliens. They have a legal right to be here, and the borders should be opened up.

In other words, there is no such thing as an illegal alien. If so, how do you define one?

2) They were here first, so they have more right to work here, receive aid, etc., than any of you.

If they were here before me, why are they having to sneak INTO the country?

3) They do help the economy. In fact, our economy has tanked since so many immigrants have been kept out. Thank God Bush is not totally in line with you on this subject.

I don't know what you'r talking about. The borders are still WIDE open. Some 350,000 people enter the US illegally every year.

4) What I'm reading on this thread is pure racism and a latent hatred of those of Latino descent, and if you don't watch it I'm going to hit the abuse button.

I'm the son of immigrants, so lay off the ad hominem racism cracks. There's a big difference between entering this country legally via Elllis Island (the way my family did) and sneaking across the border illegally.

5) Any questions?!?

What color is the sky in your world?

I won't deny we have a problem here in the South, and I completely agree with your concerns. But. I also have a son. He's grown now and doing quite well, btw.

When he was quite young (10-12), he started blazing his own trail. He did yardwork, he helped neighbors move, he babysat, he ran errands, sacked groceries for tips only, anything he could think of to make money.

When he discovered a huge hole on a busy street 2 blocks away, he marched over there every morning - early - and collected the lost hubcaps. Sat and Sun he set up a stand on that roadside and sold them. He didn't have a "real" job till he was 17, but he always had money in his pocket.

Tell your son to get creative! And tell him this FReeper wishes him all the best.

I am sorry to tell you there is no political party which will improve this. The borders will be closed tight like a drum after 250,000 or more people die in a suitcase bomb attack on an under-secured city. But then it will be too late.

On their tombstones should read "Died for Karl Rove's Racial Fantasies".

W is suffering from "Rainmakeritis" on the latino invasion.

I'm not convinced.

Now if they would only limit it to Colombian and Venezuelan Miss Universe contestants then I'd say: "Open Door All The Way!"....be a nice bump to our gene pool.

Does anyone know a last refuge where Americans can live without this infestation. Being a resident in Northwest Mexico, oops I mean CA, I get to see firsthand the benifits of illegal immigration. It seems the problem is quite widespread throughout the nation. Kalifornia is way past the point of return, time to escape and regroup. I have heard Northern Idaho is nice, any other suggestions?

That is getting to be the $65,000 question. I don't have a clue. But people I know in all parts of this country are telling me that same thing, that they too are being invaded. It's very depressing. I don't think you can escape it UNLESS you live in the middle of *nowhere*.......

Oh, northern Idaho is nice, but way to cold and icy for me.....Good luck, you will need it, as a half million more continue to pour across our borders every year.

Find the congresspeople who most support open borders and illegal immigration. Check out who they are getting money from. Campaign donations from groups, individuals etc.should be listed in either state or federal records.

Blow the cover off the donors who pay the congresspeople to flaunt the law.

Blow the cover off the congresspeople. 80% of Americans want the border closed, yet most probably don't realize that their own representatives are opposing their wishes and values. Another poster put up a post that described the politicians that were on the take from the India PAC (h1b visas). Is there a Mexico PAC? Can we find out then do something about it?

My son ran into a similar problem in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego. The difference was that the jobs were all held by asian kids. He finally landed a job when his asian buddies put in a good word for him. He is fortunate to have a broad enough circle of friends to circumvent the current round of "preferences" that has arisen. He's currently serving with the Marines in Kuwait, but the issue of locking down work again will surface when he returns.

Woof. Lemme see if I can figure this "logic" out - even though they are here illegally, they're NOT here illegally.

Maybe you can have a go at "IS" next.

4) What I'm reading on this thread is pure racism and a latent hatred of those of Latino descent, and if you don't watch it I'm going to hit the abuse button.

Hmmm...since you're the one who is banned or suspended, methinks your strategy backfired here.

1) They are undocumented immigrants, not illegal aliens. They have a legal right to be here, and the borders should be opened up.

An "undocumented immigrant" is a nice Orwellian 1984 doublespeak term for the more correct "Illegal alien".

They are alien. They are illegally here. Ergo, illegal alien.

2) They were here first, so they have more right to work here, receive aid, etc., than any of you.

They arrived on Tuesday. I arrived somewhere in the 1960's. I was here first. I win.

3) They do help the economy. In fact, our economy has tanked since so many immigrants have been kept out. Thank God Bush is not totally in line with you on this subject.

They help the economy by taking jobs from Americans, paying little or no taxes, flaunting most of the laws of the nation, and sending most of the money they earn to foreign lands. I love how much they help this economy. They may help us right into a depression, by gum.

4) What I'm reading on this thread is pure racism and a latent hatred of those of Latino descent, and if you don't watch it I'm going to hit the abuse button.

What I'm reading on your post is pure anti-Americanism and latent hatred of those of European descent, and if you don't watch it I'm going to hit the abuse button.

5) Any questions?!?

Yes.

  1. Who are you, and why do you sneeze so violently?
  2. Who taught you the 1984 doublespeak? Doubleplus Ungood, comrade.
  3. Are you here legally?
  4. Do you have any relatives or friends that are illegal aliens?
  5. How many years have you been a whackjob leftist?

Not just in the western counties of NC. Johnson and Harnett Counties appear to be largely Mexican enclaves and the Raleigh area has a huge hispanic substratum.

"This is sad. Whenever I got to a place like McDonalds and they have English-second-language help, they often get my order wrong. I did not know they were displacing teens - I only thought they were taking jobs teens wouldn't take. "

They are taking fast food and factory jobs that teens or welfare people need to take instead. The chicken-killin' factories here wouldn't run without illegals. If the illegals were gone the welfare people wouldn't be able to say they couldn't find a job because the factories would be desperate to get people. Of course, I doubt they'd work as hard.
