Coalition civil affairs team confiscates neglected animals
Soldiers with the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade out of Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance, seized more than 30 animals from Luna Park's petting zoo in Baghdad. The civil affairs soldiers pushed for confiscation when they found the petting zoo in extremely poor conditions. The animals were living in filthy cages and forgotten feeding bowls.
I always hate to see that animals like this have been abused or neglected. Glad there is now help.

The lovely veiled lady & others like her need to make a decision if they will follow their "veiling" regulations or get a driver's license. Seems simple enough doesn't it?

Powell Says Iraq Journalist Deaths Accident of War
New York, May 27, 2003 Just before noon on April 8, 2003, journalists covering the battle of Baghdad from the balconies of the Palestine Hotel looked on as the turret of a U.S. M1A1 Abrams tank positioned about three quarters of a mile away on the Al-Jumhuriya Bridge turned toward them and unleashed a single round. The shell struck a 15th-floor balcony of the hotel, fatally wounding veteran Reuters cameraman Taras Protsyuk and Spanish cameraman José Couso of Telecinco. Three other journalists were wounded in the attack.

Women in Saudia Arabia are not allowed to drive.
Women in other mideastern countries that do drive have had their picture taken without the veil for the drivers license.
Not only am I required to have a photo id for driving, also when applying for a job (2 forms of ID), catching a check, occasionally purchases with credit cards, etc.
If she gets away with this, then we all should stand up and start bellowing, or all should refuse to have our pictures taken for drivers ID.
Okay I am listening to this guy on Scarborough and Company saying this is her right. Her religious right. I guess I need to get some religion.

Blair announces Iraq visit, Cook demands WMD inquiry
BAGHDAD (AFP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair was set to become the first western leader to visit Iraq since the war, as a former British minister called for an inquiry after Washington acknowledged Iraq may have destroyed weapons of mass destruction before war broke out.
"I want to see the British troops to thank them for their magnificent performance during the Gulf conflict," Blair said en route to Kuwait.
Former British FM calls for parliamentary probe over Iraqi weapons
LONDON (AFP) - Former British foreign secretary Robin Cook called for an inquiry after the United States said Iraqi forces may have destroyed the country's alleged weapons of mass destruction before war broke out.
"If (US Defence Secretary) Donald Rumsfeld is now admitting the weapons are not there, the truth is the weapons probably haven't been there for quite a long time," Cook, who resigned from the government over the war, told the BBC.
LONDON - Opponents of the U.S-British invasion of Iraq renewed their criticism of the war Wednesday after the American defense secretary said Iraq may have destroyed its weapons of mass destruction before the war.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, speaking in New York on Tuesday, said it was possible the reason Iraqi chemical or biological weapons had not yet been found was that Saddam Hussein 's government "decided that they would destroy them prior to a conflict."
DUBAI (Reuters) - An al-Jazeera television correspondent who had quoted eyewitness reports of a U.S. helicopter crash and the deaths of four Americans in Iraq Wednesday later said he was unable to confirm the incident.
"We cannot confirm anything ... not even that the incident occurred," the correspondent said without elaborating. He said he had been unable to enter the town of Hit itself due to the turmoil there.

Iraq Ponders Meaning of Newfound Freedom
BAGHDAD, Iraq - After more than three decades of being denied life's most basic freedoms under Saddam Hussein, Iraqis are trying to learn what it means to be free. And with more than 60 percent of Iraqis born after Saddam's party seized power, it is an alien concept to most.
"No one knows what freedom means," said Salima al-Majali, 29. "When were born, we opened our eyes to Saddam and everything was forbidden. Our life was all about fear."
