IRAQ'S WEAPONS & THE ROAD TO WAR

June 3, 2003 -- TWO oddly similar searches are underway in Iraq these days, one for Saddam Hussein and another for his weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Neither has yet been found.

No one argues that because Saddam has not been located, he never existed. But that is what some are saying about the coalition forces not finding actual WMD.

The campaign in Iraq is ultimately not about weapons. It's not about the United Nations. And it's not about Iraqi freedom. It is about keeping promises to the United States - or paying the consequences.

Amen to that. Unfortunately, we had to play the WMD angle hard, or the weenies in the UN wouldn't have come along, even though they had signed off on military action last fall.

Pipes is correct. Even if the UN isn't going to hold nations accountable for contracts those nations signed, the U.S. will and that is an important signal to send to the whole world, including the pantywaist UN.

Wolfstar has documented the Iraqi WMD situation as per what the Clintoon Administrations said during their 8 years of BS. Here is what they said about Iraq's WMDs in 1998.

Before anyone goes too far down the road of trying to bring down either the Bush or Blair administrations over questions about where the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction are, a short detour into recent history is in order.

In December 1998, Bill Clinton addressed the American public from the Oval Office. His purpose was to explain why he ordered military action in Iraq. The following is a verbatim transcript found in the CNN AllPolitics.com archives.

One thing's certain, today's left, the DNC, the EU, the UN, Amnesty Int'l, the Pope, the socialists and their Communist-fascist kin would never have fought the Civil War to free the slaves. Years of blood, sweat, tears, family sacrifices, economic upheaval and mass-casualties just to free the slaves when all was so neat and quiet with that plantation lifestyle. <*/sarcasm*> Not to mention the years of messy and noisy reconstruction to follow. Nope, the left wasn't the force behind freeing the slaves then, and they certainly aren't today.
