This is an excellent article DoctorZ. Thank you for posting it.

I am praying for the Iranian people that they may start a new life of freedom, hopefully very soon.

"Iranians now need to be heard.
I, as an Iranian student came here to be a voice.
We need much much support to be victorious."

I have heard you and I support you.

Iranian students don't like the New York Times? What a small, but totally connected world this is...

You might add: How about the media, the academia, the experts or the intellectuals? To be sure, one expects the truth and professionalism from them!

Unfortunately, not so! Michael Ledeen, Michael Rubin or others like them are not heard often and are relegated to the periphery. Yet, “The New York Times” reporters and articles claim to know the truth about Iran. And, ignorant, self-promoting and self-serving Judith Kipper, Robin Wright, Shirin Hunter and Christiane Amanpour are the ones who are paraded for the viewers. And, of course, Charlie Rose revels in having the agents of the regime as his friends and invites them on his program as often as possible.

They hijacked a nation and took its population hostage under the sham of religion and their perverted brand of Islam.

This line indicates a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of Islam. The regime is not a perversion of Islam. Theocracy is essential to Islam.

Putting Mohammedan dogma aside, the facts speak for themselves. Turkey is the only Mohammedan nation with a form of government that resembles a democracy. Ninety percent of the wars currently being waged around the world involve Mohammedans, and these conflicts ring the Mohammedan world.

Democracy and Mohammedanism don't mix.

"Iranians now need to be heard. I, as an Iranian student came here to be a voice. We need much support to be victorious."

Since 9-11 Many Americans have asked where are the moderate and peace loving voices of Islam? Where are the Muslims we can call our friends rather than our enemies?

Well many in Iran are attempting to step forward and say "Here we are, listen to us, support us".

Sadly, many Americans are unaware of what is going on in Iran; very little is being reported. I pray that you will succeed, I hope we in America finally wake up and help you in your cause. It is noble, courageous and deserving of victory.

First thing he could do is throw the stupid, useless Road Map into the toilet and quit giving money to the terrorists (to rebuild their "security" forces) in the Palestinian/Hamas cabal; and quit supporting the Saudi Arabian ragheads who fund hamas and it's ilk.

I agree with the first point. I am not so sure we are supporting Saudi Arabia any more. Now that we have gotten rid of Saddam and have a presence in Iraq (securing a stable source of oil for the world) we are moving all troops out of Saudi Arabia and I do not think that we will be back, leaving the princes to sink or swim on their own in their fight with Al-quaida, without any danger that the world economey will fall apart because of turmoil in the kingdom. Rumor is the CIA calls the princes the walking dead men and I don't think we are to worried about it.

In the span of twenty-four years they have totally destroyed the socio-economic fabric of the country and have taken it to the abyss. The economy is sick and dying; they have completely bankrupted the nation. In 1977, per capita income of Iran was the same as Spain, today it rivals Gaza; inflation is at 20%; unemployment at 30%; debt in the billions; the currency is so devalued that it is not worth the paper printed on; unpaid teachers and workers; complete deterioration of the standard of living; petroleum industry in ruins; brain drain; pervasive corruption; and total pollution of the environment. In short, they have decimated everything they have touched.

Just another day at the office for the standard bearers of the "religion of peace".

This is probably the best rant I have ever read on FR. I wish these brave souls good luck and God speed.

the letter was very long and most don't have the time or the attention span to read something this long.

It's a classic. We should hope that the modern equivalent of the Communists doesn't gain control over this revolution and turn it against America or against America and the West. There comes a time when going with the existing ought to be reconsidered, is this one of those times?

While this letter is flattering to the US; I note that its origin is in Texas, not Iran. It is clear that ex-patriate Iranians have clued into the hypocrisy and responsibility of the UN, EU (including the castigation of Blair and Britain), the despots of the Arab world including Gadhaffi, the late Assad, and Arafat (condemning the terrorist groups supported by the Mullahs such as Hizbollah and rejecting the support given to the Palestinians and their cause) and villify American journalists and academics who have portrayed the Mullahs in a sympathetic light.

I am curious as to whether these details are fully supported by the students in Iran.

I wonder if this letter is also an enducement to known conservatives in the US, as it plays to our causes (as much as to Iranian indictments of the Mullahs), with a view to significantly increase the visibility of their cause. Nothing wrong with that and I commend the expatriate Iranians for identifying their true allies in the American political landscape.

Just a comment; nothing in this letter rings false as far as the charges and identification of the collborating entities.

I hope that the soon-to-be-free Iranians DO renounce the policies of support for terrorist groups throughout the Middle East, cease their production of WMD and their alliances with those parties which have assisted in this, and focus on rebuilding Iran.

I wish them all the best.

The problem that the US Gov is now facing and perhaps the USA facing is really simple:
I always say, Americans take real enemies as friends and allies and they also take real friends as enemies.
Simple to show you: Pakistan and some Arabian states like Saudia as US allies and Iran as foe.
Why should it be like this?
We all know Saudis dislike the U.S, both Gov and nation,
or Pakistan, at least the people of Pakistan are the most exteremist muslims of the world armed with Nukes.
They are your fake ally in war against Terrorism.
but a nation like Iran, ever called as Terrorists and camel jokeys because of lack of knowledge.
People of Iran love you, Americans. Listen to them.
Most people here agreed with your attack on Iraq.
We hope you change your minds and think about realities.
I am here to do something for both side, I wish you all success.
