Iranians now need to be heard.
I, as an Iranian student came here to be a voice.
We need much much support to be victorious.

...an open letter to the free people of the world. No, not the leaders, the politicians, nor the experts or the media; it is a plea to the decent men and women of conscience...Powerful indeed.

The other part is a warning to those, nations or otherwise, who out of greed, self-promotion, financial gain, access, ignorance or arrogance for the last twenty-fours years have cuddled the theocratic regime in Iran; especially, those who insist on extending the life of this odious regime and prolonging the misery of the Iranian people.
"But, ooh could zey be rayfaring to?"

Dr. - Great post!
Iranians were respected for their culture and humanity. Today, the adjective of terrorist follows us.
You have taken our nationality, identity, our heritage, our dignity and our honor. You have made every attempt to erase and deny us our nationalism and 7,000 years of history and civilization. You have taken our music, our glorious literature, our poetry and our beautiful traditions.
We will reclaim our land, our national identity, pride, heritage, our proud history, and our civilization.
I think they have the right idea, a restoration of their Persian heritage.

This letter is long - but a powerful read.
The criticism of the UN is right on. The human suffering at the hands of tyrants going on in this world is horrible. And the UN does nothing.
God help the Iranians, as it appears no one else is willing to help them.

While the future of Iran will be decided, solely, by the people of Iran and the ultimate responsibility to free the nation is with the Iranians, all we ask is the moral support of the United States. All we expect is that the United States will remain true to its principles of liberty, justice, and its ideals of democracy.
Can't ask for more than that, and
"...we will not stop, we will not relent until our beloved Iran is free, secular and democratic."
And this,
"Palestine is not our cause; Arab-Israeli conflict is not our fight. We are Iranians! That is totally between the parties involved. Nonetheless, as a peace-loving nation, we should encourage and support a peaceful solution rather than interfere in their affairs and instigate terror and war."
Peace may come when Iran is free.
Bump.

It's mullah time! The question now is whether Iran's ayatollahs and the original ''Islamic republic'' can survive the summer, or whether President Bush will mark the second anniversary of Sept. 11 with two-thirds of his axis of evil consigned to the trash can of history.

The very Secretary-General under whose auspices the Commission on Human Rights has made a complete mockery and a travesty of the United Nations and its principles. The same Human Rights Commission with representative of Libya as its Chairman! The very Commission that, thanks to Mr. Kofi Annan, completely exonerated the Islamic Republic of all its human rights abuses! This is the very Secretary-General that during his tenure the representative of Iraq was poised to become Chairman of the Disarmament Commission just a few days before the liberation of Iraq! If it were not so hideous it would be hilarious! Even fiction couldnt come up with a more dysfunctional United Nations than this. But, alas, it is reality! This is the status of the United Nations under the stewardship of Mr. Kofi Annan, the Secretary-General.
I think his condemnation of the UN and Kofi Annan very to the point and well said.

All our charges against "respected organizations" such as the UN, the EU, the New York Times, the World Bank, and the State Department are now corroborated by the very victims! This is so true! They are saying the same things I've come to believe about the UN.
While the letter is a long read, it is powerful, and worth the time to read it.
To: Terp
But the letter was very long and most don't have the time or the attention span to read something this long. They need to make any further correspondence [sp] shorter and to the point. You have a point there; but in this letter, they told many things that needed to be told. Everyone won't read it, but some people (Freepers and other freep-minded people) will read it and we can quote and excerpt from it.
The parts about Kofi, the EU, Christiane Amanpour, and the NYT are particularly valuable as these are institutions and individuals who have received far too much respect and credibility from the uninitiated. Now they stand indicted by the victims of their criminal behavior. Next time you hear a liberal defend the UN, you can cut and paste what the Iranians had to say about it and e-mail it to him.
