The Vast Dubya & DeLay Conspiracy

June 30, 2003

Depending on where you go and in what circles you travel, conservatives are livid with the Bush administration. Some, more so than others, are furious over the size of the federal budget, the failing to rein in any kind of spending, tax cuts for people who don't pay taxes, the Medicare prescription drug benefit, the list continues - and there’s a great deal of head scratching going on.

I came across an Associated Press story over the weekend that attempts to shed some light on what’s happening, which you can hear me read in the audio links below. However, the story seems to imply there’s a conspiracy between the White House and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

Here’s just one excerpt: “DeLay has become the most identifiable representative of the party's right wing, and the two Texans have had a sometimes scrappy relationship. Clashes may become more frequent as Bush moves beyond his current phase of fund raising among loyal Republicans and shifts his attention to the general electorate, analysts suggest. At the same time, Bush and his advisers are mindful that if they go too far, they could alienate conservatives whose support he needs. ‘Bush is carefully picking and choosing his fights,’ said GOP consultant Scott Reed. ‘There's a healthy back and forth between the White House staff and DeLay that is mutually beneficial to both.’”

The story continues to suggest that Bush is telling DeLay to go ahead and stop what he’s trying to do - on purpose. The idea being that Bush can thus claim credit for supporting whatever measure, while DeLay and other conservatives can point to victory for blocking its ultimate passage. A caller later asked: “Isn't this the same strategy that Bush used on campaign finance reform, only he is counting on the Supreme Court to shoot it down?” You can hear my answer below.

With few exeptions he is a Socialist. Tax cuts for those who don't pay taxes, billions for Aids aid in africa, tacit support of Affirmative action, a nation wide "security" force, world record goverment expendature increases, stuff under the rug tax cuts, perscription drug entitlements, wars of unprovoked "liberation", suggestions of global policing, approval of "assult" weapon bans.

Have I seen you on a street corner holding NO WAR FOR OIL signs?

Disregard my former post to you. You have shown your true colors to me now. You have certainly faked me out for awhile, but no more.

"If we have another event, and it's perpetrated by someone coming into this country illegally, and we've done no more to protect our borders and actually enforce our immigration policy...then the blood of the people that are killed will be on our hands and the president's," Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) told CNSNews.com.

Tancredo said he has made the same statement to White House officials. Their response? "They told me never to darken the doorstep of the White House again," Tancredo revealed. "They went ballistic on me.

"They asked: 'How dare you say a thing like that?' I said: 'You tell me who people should blame - the Elks Club? Who's responsible?'" Tancredo recalled asking White House officials.

Oh please let's lay the blame where it belongs, Bush divided conservatives, Carl Rove divided conservatives. I think of it as the parting of the sheep from the goats.

This article is a joke. Sure there is this under the table, good cop/bad cop thing going on, yeah right. I have swamp land in Arizona to sell.

"Depending on where you go and in what circles you travel, conservatives are livid with the Bush administration."

No, conservatives aren't "livid".

Just take a peak at Bush's fundraising. You don't pull in that kind of money if your base is unhappy.

A few idealistic critics don't make a "conservative" groundswell of opposition, though the Democrats, Greens, and Libertarians would certainly hope that we were all so divided and engaged in fratricide.

Bush will outfundraise the next two Presidential candidates of *any* two election years combined.

Bush will win in 2004 in a large, decisive way, even though the same "conservative" critics will still be repeating over and over "remember 1992" and other such worthless platitudes.

Also, the Libertarians on Free Republic have become so repetitive, tiresome, wrong, and distracting that they should be banned.

We've all heard the same Bush-bashing arguments. Either get some new ones or go away.

The little 'showboy' is not hard to figure out.... here's a few of his quotes.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/937554/posts?page=21#21
Bush is a liberal wolf in sheep's clothing and for the bulk of Americans, the disguise is working perfectly.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/754882/posts?page=652#652

If Bush was a conservative we would not even of needed this show.

Only the liberals think that Rove controls government policy. Get a new shtick.

You guys are actively trying to divide Republicans. Whether you are disgruntled third-party types or DNC test marketers, your goal is the same.

As Southack said, the money proves that the base is behind the President. Your fevered rantings here are not evidence of anything but the ability to furiously type on a keyboard.

I don't think you know where you stand politically. Instead of making rash comments about the GOP why don't you figure out where you stand and support that party. I say LP because alot of them like what you have to say. Just my Humble Opinoin.......

Bush: How do you turn back a tidal wave? You don't!

We've got generations of Americans who now DEMAND benefits from the porch sitters to those who now want Prescription benefits from big brother.

So what was GWB supposed to do? Be a one term POTUS by vetoing what the rats and rinos sent to him? Because that is exactly what would have happened as the media and their minions would have made him another Pat Buchanan.

Instead, he has given us two fantastic tax DECREASES to set the stage to starve the feral government of funds in the future, and has defused the leftist rats and rinos, while setting the stage for a truly Conservative Senate.

We share ideals, but have to remember the tidal wave...as in one sand bag at a time.

I am convinced that Rush scans Free Republic for trends, and that the anti-Bush people know it.

I think there are medications out for your kind of paranoia, and if you're over 65 I'll help pay for them....soon enough anyway.
