I signed the Recall Petition - but I worry if it's delayed to March, Calif. Unions will get their ilk out to vote in force against Recall

It looks like it'll happen this Fall. The Secretary of State attempted to slow down the count but that effort collapsed when the recall forces threatened to haul him into court.

This campaign is going to be unlike any we've ever seen. Any bozo with 65 signatures and a few thousand dollars for a filing fee can get on the ballot. And they'll be able to file up until 60 days before the election, which means a very short campaign. Not to mention that half of the electon process is an up/down vote on keeping the incumbent. Nobody has ever run a campaign with such a bunch of oddball factors involved, so there's no playbook for how to carry it off. Watch this carefully, it's going to be one for the history books.

Is Goldberg in training to work for the NY Slimes.

Here is a quote from Arnold while entertaining our troops in Iraq. He compared Iraq to California:

"It is really wild driving around here, I mean the poverty, and you see there is no money, it is disastrous financially, there is the leadership vacuum -- pretty much like in California right now," he said.

So Iceberg, er Goldberg, this is just our way of having a regime change in California. You stay in DC and stay friends with the liberal thugs. We will do what is necessary for California.

"Californians stupidly elected Davis in 2002, but now they refuse to suffer the consequences"

we didn't elect gray dufuss....
guess the washington times doesn't know about motor voter n other assorted demonRAT absentee vote fraud institutions...
"illegal aliens" elected gray dufuss; whether they "acutally voted", or not...

"Hopefully this will be a high profile media event before it is over"

I think this dream may have already come true. That is why it is SOOOOOOO important for the opposition to select a single candidate BEFORE the recall goes forward.

The focus must be on getting rid of Davis. And replacing him with a Non-Democrat!

Exactly. I disagree with Jonah Goldberg. Gray Davis isn't be recalled for his views or cause he's a Democrat but on account of his incompetence and corruption. I don't think vorers need to suffer for their mistake last year. The recall gives them a chance to make it right. Its not like the recall has been instigated the drop of a hat. If Davis simply lied about the budget he would have survived. I expect politicians to lie about stuff like that and it goes with politics. But when a politician doesn't show leadership and lets a state go belly-up cause he's incapable of making the hard decisions, he should fired exactly like the CEO of a company that's in danger of going out of business. Case closed.

Jonah must have been thrilled when the impeached Presidential traitor wasn't removed from office. The country got to pay (and still is paying) for the mistake of electing him. Thanks, Jonah, but no thanks.

Apparently Mr. Goldberg believes that the Constitution (at least, the California Constitution) is a suicide pact.

I'm getting tired of people telling me that I have to live with Davis until his term is up.

These pundits from out of state should live here for 5 or 6 years to get the shaft like those of us who make our living here. I see the cost of business is going up ever more due to a shortage in the unemployment fund...

Jonah Goldberg is wrong about conservatism being a suicide pact. Hell no to the notion we should sit by and watch our beloved state taken over the cliffs.

>>California has led the country in political trends for decades now. That's why Californians must be punished<<

This guy can go to hell. Davis lied his way into office (he understated the deficit HE built by 24 BILLION dollars).

These east coast stick-up-their-butts left us west coast conservatives twisting in the wind. The recall is perfectly legitimate and we will use it. 3 numbers over the last 4 years:

20% increase in fiscal needs due to population increase and inflation.
25% increase in revenues.
40% INCREASE IN SPENDING.

Davis has the line item veto. As the state CEO he could have kept expenditures in line with actual revenues. He did not. He must go.

Besides, how much more can we be punished? We have Pelosi, Davis, Boxer, Feinstein and over 2 million illegal aliens that we feed, clothe and school.

Jonah Goldberg's credentials:

Mommy's boy.
Got Ann Coulter fired.
Pro-gays.
Mom's site is very pro-gay and you can not say bad things about gays there else you will be.."terminated".

Honestly, I don't hate Gray. I just don't want him to be my governor. I don't hate Jonah either, but this really makes me think twice about the things he writes. And honestly, he's just a blip on the radar, I don't usually read his stuff.

Now Peggy Noonan...I like her stuff. And Ann, of course.

I thought that this bozo was the girly boy, who pretends to be a conservative who got Ann fired. You have confirmed it.

it's going to be interesting to see whether comrade grey resigns, in order to promote a fellow democrat, or, whether he hangs on until the end.

the los angeles times today quoted daryl issa as saying that davis is gone and his job for the next 100 days is to make davis' life as difficult as he can. wow!

Once the recall petition is 'filed' (there are varying interpretations on what constitutes 'filing'), it's too late. The office holder resigning doesn't stop the recall election. Based on the number of signatures turned in, I'd say Davis has, at most, until July 23, when the Secretary of State next reports the totals. I expect that he'll report that the threshold has been achieved, and the recall is on. Whatever other interpretations of 'filing' there might be, that will definitely be the end point, and there'll be a recall whether or not Davis is in office.
