Well we certainly don't have all the facts. That is for sure. But if suspicion of government is a conservative disease then I most surely do have it. I suspect I am the only one infected on this thread at least. Ps- getting late on this part of the globe. back later- thanks to all- later nopardons.

It is effective though, because nobody can figure out who did or did not do what.

#9 - exactly! (and don't forget to pour in some media hype and second-hand sources before stirring thoroughly)

Now they call themselves "progressives." they had to soften "socialism" too.

While I don't doubt the power of commonly-shared beliefs, I can't shake the strong impression that the activities of these people are too well coordinated to be explained by ideology alone.

There is no doubt they coordinate among themselves in various ways. They don't necessarily all meet is secret places at secret times but they communicate among themselves in various ways. Look at how central the French are to many of these avenues. Look at the UN and the opportunities there. Bill Clinton travels the world meeting with a variety of these people. There is communication but just no secret group of unknown people pulling the strings in a hierarchal manner.

And the anti-Republican/anti-Bush paleocon/paleolibertarian/buchananite/rockwellian/anarchist movement has combined with the Democrat/French/German/Iraq pro-terror axis.

You've officially qualified as a lunatic.

I take it you disagree with JimRob on his point. However, a quick scan of the news, not to mention posts by some of the usual suspects around herre, would seem to justify his point.

Sure, it's an alliance of convenience, in that they share a common enemy. But they're also singing the same tune.

On the bright side, you now qualify for free prescription drugs, courtesy of the GOP.

Hooray for socialism.

A further factor in the refusal to hand over the information might have been concern that the US administration's willingness to publicise intelligence might lead to sources being inadvertently disclosed.

I've got to give them that one -- it's quite a likely scenario.

A quick scan of FR shows it to be increasingly populated by dullards who cannot abide criticism in any form, and who cheer while their party of choice runs this once great republic into the ground.

Waving the flag ain't all there is to patriotism.

And find themselves so lacking in logical arguments they resort to calling others lunatics.

I still think that there is something really bad yet to be discovered, and the French are in it up to their eyeballs.

I think Jaques Chirac's self interest is in it up to its eyeballs, and that's enough.

As we learned during the run-up to the war, Chirac had a close, personal relationship with the Saddam regime, and Saddam himself. There were all those unsecured personal loans, for instance, and a great deal of nuclear cooperation, and Chirac played a key role. So he needs to control that little problem.

Couple that with Chirac's obvious ambition to make the EU a legitimate world power, with Jaques Chirac as the head of Europe. He has to obstruct Bush/Blair, else he loses face.

Finally, I think there's also something else going on here. Chirac can count, and he knows that there are a lot of "unrepresented" Muslims out there. The Russians are killing 'em in Chechnya. We're supporting Israel and killing 'em in Iraq.

So Chirac, no doubt hoping to bank on France's colonial ties to the Arabs, probably figures he can swing the salamikazes over to his side. (This would also help mollify the huge Islamic minority in France proper.)

Uhhh... yeah...

This was a real "logical argument"...

But since it came from Jim... everyone smiles and nods.

And waves the flag.

And says "hooray".

And mumbles something about "dumbocrats" or "demorats" or something real intelligent like that.

And no one even notices that Bush's social spending and budget-busting pork makes Clinton look like Coolidge.

And anyone who dares question it, is a "terrorist traitor".

A particularly apt description of FR libertarians and buchananites....

and who cheer while their party of choice runs this once great republic into the ground.

Your bias is showing, and you seem somehow to have missed the last 70+ years of American history.

Waving the flag ain't all there is to patriotism.

Quite true. Of course, we could just sit around bitching and moaning like you do, but it's rather sedentary. At least with flag waving you can work on your pecs.

Like it or not, Jim is correct. They are all on the same page with the same song. Apparently you know the words by heart also.
