Republican gubernatorial nominee Mitch Tyner said the same economic development benefits that lured Bass Pro Shop to Pearl should go to homegrown Mississippi small businesses.

"If we're going to give tax credits and incentives, we should be giving them to businesses in Mississippi," he said Monday.

Tyner added he would support Barbour in the general election if Barbour defeats him in the primary

This line is what I have always loved about politics.

In a statement Monday afternoon, Barbour's spokesman Quinton Dickerson attacked Tyner, calling him a "surrogate attack dog" for Democratic Gov. Ronnie Musgrove.

What more is there to say?

That's exactly what he is. Doing Musgrove's dirty work, in a Republican primary is lower than gulley dirt.

The first incentive is to close the courts to the litigation lottery that Mississippi has become.

I hope this happens before it is too late.

Tyner is not going to win ANY elections by getting between Mississippians and the new Bass Pro Shops! I mean, isn't this d#mn near a candidate saying he plans to ban deer hunting or that he despises NASCAR? Not a smart move.

LOL....I feel sorry for the "Mean Mallard".

Bass Pro Shops is the Wal Mart of hunting/fishing gear....a phenomenal store actually....just stay away from their "in house" garments...most shrink badly.

"The first incentive is to close the courts to the litigation lottery that Mississippi has become."

This is a bit off topic but, apparently, the trial lawyers are knee deep in Meridian because of the shootings. Because of this, folks are afraid Lockheed won't be there much longer.

If I had been insanely wealthy as a teenager, I think I would have spent all of my discretionary income on the Bass Pro Shops catalog. I love that place.

The trial lawyers should have a really hard time pinning fault on Lockheed for what happened there, that is unless the company had some sort of notice of their employee's dangerous tendencies. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Tyner is going to lose so bad. I'll be surprised if he breaks 10% or 15% of the vote. I've already voted absentee for Haley Barbour in the primary because I'll be out of town on election day.

About the only Tyner sign I have seen is the one on his office on I-55 in Jackson.

I have always voted in the dimocrat primary for local reasons but this year I am voting in the republican primary . If somebody loses by my one vote. They will just have to get over it.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I saw things too. If the constable, circuit clerk, tax collector, or whatever wanted my vote they should have run as a Republican.

I surely hope you are right. The talk around town, amongst people "in the know", is that he should have been locked up 20 years ago. I'm sure that's exaggerated, but...who knows what the trial lawyers will make of it.

You studying?;o)
