Anyone see these folks on with Couric??
I'm sure the parents informed us that "he's a good boy" and Katie was very sympathetic...."There, there, it's all that horrible John Ashcroft's fault."

Funny. Not a single ounce of remorse from the kid, or from the parents of this obese slob on his behalf.
It's always someone else's fault. "Get the other guy." "Anyone could have done this."
I hope they charge and prosecute this tub of lard to the fullest extent of the law.

He may have some positive traits in his life, but he sure didn't display them to all of us who had to deal with these stupid viruses. Maybe Katie Couric would like to reimburse me for the 2 hrs it took me to take the virus off my laptop. Or I'll settle for 2 hrs in a locked room with this teenager. My sons can attest to the fact that I can lecture non stop for that long on any given subject on any given day. Whatever, he shouldn't be praised for any of this and he certainly shouldn't be on national tv. Why isn't he in a jail cell?

As they say, "Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time."
I hope he shares a jail cell with a big amorous convict named "Bubba". Then he'll truly understand what it's like to get violated with a "worm".

He expressed concern the government was going to make an example of him. That is EXACTLY what the Government needs to do. Sorry Mr. Parsons, but you will be the equivalent of bleached pirate bones hanging near a port to warn sailors away from piracy.

It took me many hours of downloading upgrades and patches and then upgrading my virus scan software. I have a dial up modem and the full process from start until I finished with the last virus scan and clean up took over ten hours of time. Now I was not at the desk for that entire time but there were certainly other things I could have been doing with my PC. This was a malicious act of sabotage, inteneded to disrupt lives, not some prank. This also beyond the scope of the average computer user. It was planned and built using hours of scheming and executed with the express purpose of damaging computer users and in hammering comunication. I have no sympathy for this person whatsoever. He purposly, with malice aforthought set a nasty virus loose on all of us. Hang him high and I fully agree with using him as an example. Someone has to be first!

I'm aware of many large businesses that were affected by recent virus attacks, and there has been losses that can be easily tied to dollars. This is like any other case of vandalism, and a price needs to be paid to whatever extent provided by law (criminally/civil) that this little jerk produced and/or perpetuated the virus.
There's a real cost to these crimes.

This is the first time I have ever had a run-in with the law.Irrelevant. It's always the "first time" when you get caught for the first time.
He expressed concern the government was going to make an example of him.
Good, me too. I received 300 of these emails within one hour at work. We were down for 6 hours while our IT staff got the software patch on our servers. Making an example out of this snot is a good idea.
"I understand that the government needs to catch someone for these crimes. I'm not the one they need to get," he said.
Yes, you are.
"My son is not brilliant; he's not genius," Rita Parson said. "Anyone that has any computer knowledge could have done what Jeff did."
But they didnt, your son did. You need to own up to the fact that your hellion created one helluva mess for alot of people. Plus, you sound stupid as hell if you use that defense.

In the words of the great Warren Zevon...
Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best
Excitable boy, they all said
And he rubbed the pot roast all over his chest
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
He took in the four a.m. show at the Clark
Excitable boy, they all said
And he bit the usherette's leg in the dark
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
He took little Susie to the Junior Prom
Excitable boy, they all said
and he raped her and killed her, then he took her home
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
After ten long years they let him out of the Home
Excitable boy, they all said
And he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

I don't really care if he goes to jail. I just want to know his (and his parents') address so I can send them my bill for business interruption.

I just like to break things. Is that so wrong? Hang this sucker. Just another punk vandal.
