Schumer and Kennedy made me furious. Imagine Schumer saying the WH is arrogant! And Kennedy saying it's a victory for the American people. It may just turn out that way. It may become a HUGE victory for the American people.
Hispanics are a huge voting block. If they're as outraged as most here, they may just aid the American people by voting Republican in huge numbers in the next election. We could use more Republicans in the House and Senate, and keep the Republican we have in the White House.

This has been a hard morning with Estrada and the UN "groveling". I ended up turning off the TV like in the old days of that "other" administration. Seems to be happening more and more lately.

Does this so-called leadership in defeat now reflect the way the war is being fought, too?

I disagree. Hispanics didn't give a Rat's ass about this issue. No Hispanic outcry at all. Many called Rush outraged. They admitted to voting Democrat, but felt they'd sit the next vote out to punish Democrats for not allowing Estrata in. Some changed their vote all together.
The outrage hit the radio. The liberal press prefers the silence.

...tell what could have been done, legally, to effect a different outcome. The republicans could have demanded a real filibuster, instead of a FINO.

Why do people expect our political representatives from either Party to fight for judicial nominees that believe in Limited, Constitutional Government?
When will people realize that elected representatives will not take actions that threaten their positions of power or the power those positions wield?

They don't have to defend themselves. Everyone knows they're racist, and they know that no one can, nor will do a damned thing about it.
That's the point.

Well, you got the court wrong, and this sounds like a rant, so why did you attribute it to Fox News, rather than call it a vanity? I have nothing against vanities, but I have mucho problemas with someone selling a vanity -- with botched content, no less -- as news from a respected news organization.

200 years of Senate precedentFor the record, the cloture rule (Rule 22) was adopted in 1917, after being proposed by Woodrow Wilson. In 1975, the Senate reduced the number of votes required for cloture from two-thirds (67) to three-fifths (60) of the 100-member Senate.

True. Hispanics did not care about this at all.
To: CometBaby
It had to come to this so the American public could see clearly what a mockery the Democrats have made of our system of appointment of judges. Just think about the issue come election time. Pledge of allegience under attack, 10 Commandments, etc. Remember, the president says he does not want an empty victory, meaning he wants a big majority in the Senate to claim real victory. He will get it and when he does, I can't wait to see the faces of the pompous Schumer and Kennedy and the rest of them. It will make them very, very small. Estrada will be doing fine. I am counting the days.

Democrats simply did everything they could to destroy an Hispanic applicant who was appointed by GW Bush. It was strictly polical. What a disgrace for the Democratic party. Shame, shame, shame! And SHAME, SHAME, SHAME! on G.W. Bush, his administration and the Republican Congress who did not do all they could to ensure this man's appointment. We can "shame" the Democrat party all we want. They could care less. We know who and what they are! They don't hide their biases, agenda, and disdain for any-and-all things "conservative." It's right out in front for all to see...and not just in Washington, but all across America. But George Bush and the Republicans--who supposedly are in the majority and have control over the executive and congressional branches of our government--continue to pull back the curtain to reveal their true side as well, and to sum it up in one word:
INEFFECTUAL!
If NOT MIGUEL ESTRADA, then who?
IF NOT NOW, then when?
Under just what circumstance/condition/scenario will it be the "appropriate" time to take a forceful, strong, principled stand and to not waiver until the job is done!

The republicans could have demanded a real filibuster, instead of a FINO. Care to elaborate? I don't see how that answers my question.

Why because they didn't have 60 votes of course! If we only we get them 60 votes in the Senate, then they'll quit acting like losers! Then they'll start fighting the good fight! That was sarcasm wasn't it?

The republicans could have demanded a real filibuster, instead of a FINO.Please explain this to me. I know I'm too stupid to understand so PLEASE tell me how we keep 50 Senators on the floor 24/7 to prevent quorum calls while the dims only need one or two who are speaking?

The hispanics won't fault the Dims for this sabotage, but they will fault GWB and the Pubbies for not doing much of anything tangible to support Estrada.
To: Dane
"Huh, I guess to you that the democrats have thrown out 200 years of Senate precedent means nothing to you."
I think what everyone is pissed off about is that we expected the Dims to act this way but we also expected the Pubbies to fight it, which they idn't do.
