That punishment was a little harsh but I'll bet it doesn't happen again in his courtroom. A phone rang on the back row of the movie theatre the other night. The man in front of me went all to pieces & got up & started back to find it. That was a bit over the top too.

Cell phones are such a part of our lives now that sometimes we just innocently forget we have them on. I think this was a grossly unfair punishment for this Mother.

I guess it depends on what he did when he located the discourteous patron who didn't turn the dang thing off before entering the theater.
IMHO, there's nothing wrong with an occasional ranting & venting against the cumulative offenses one normally endures in public. As long as the situation doesn't escalate into physical violence, no harm, no foul. It serves as a good reminder to everyone present that certain behavioral norms are expected in such a venue.

I agree. The person at least had the sense to sit in the back of the theater.
Some people dont have the liberty of turning their phones off. Should they have to give up ever seeing a movie, or sitting in a restaurant, or anything else where people might be annoyed by their ringing phone.
I know it's not you who is being unforgiving about this, but it was easier to respond to your post than to each of the others individually.

....That punishment was a little harsh.....
Why? Why does she have any right to disrupt court proceedings?
She will remember to be courteous as will others who learn of this action.

If somebody started in like that on me because my cellphone went off I'd burry it up their nose. Hope he doesn't freak out on the wrong person with his anti-cell phone personality disorder.

That punishment was a little harsh but I'll bet it doesn't happen again in his courtroom. Of course it will. How will all others who enter his courtroom know about this? Judges who jail people for rude behavior should be removed from the bench. They are unfit.
