Can you read? R-E-S-P-E-C-T (for the law, for others... you know)
Good for the judge.

I can see that you read very well. Thinking and feeling is, of course, another matter altogether.

I am deeply disturbed by the lack of civility in our society and spoke on that issue here, often opposed by a great numbers of FReepers. I would be delighted if the judge has punished a person that, indeed, pays no respect to the public and the court. A fine would be great: it would teach a lesson and send a message.

But JAILING for that transgression? Only the Nazis and Russian cmmies could fall so low. Your remark shows why both of these types of thugs came and held power: they were supported by people like you, who appear to have no sence of measure when it comes to power.

Shame on the judge. Shame on me. Shame on all of us in this country for making this possible.

Respect for the law is one thing. This was a complete overreaction.

THe Judge should have fined her. That would have sent an appropriate message, not this.

I was recently in court to witness an adoption. There were plenty of signs posted at the courtroom doors and elsewhere, telling people to turn their cell phones off.

She should have turned her phone off and this judge is a arrogant high handed thug for jailing her. Her offence was trivial, his offense was abuse of authority and he should be removed from office for it. He will not be of course.

please read my post above on what other actions your hero judge took. This man needs to be removed from the bench and forever barred from holding a position higher then dog catcher. He has already shown a extreme lack of judgment whith the little power he has been given as a judge. He shouldnt be ap[plauded for it he should be impeached so hat no one else wil lbe thrown in jail without trial becasue some moody thug didnt get any from his wifeand or mistress the night before and someone is by god going to pay for it.
