LONDON, -- A scheduled update on any Iraqi weapons of mass destruction is being delayed and the entire report may not be published, The Sunday Times of London reported.

There was no immediate response from U.S. officials, but the report that originated with British officials said the Anglo-American team of 1,400 scientists, military and intelligence experts has very little to report.

QUESTION: Mr. Secretary, I notice you haven't had a meeting with David Kay or any of his team here. Irrespective of whether you have had meetings or will have meetings on that subject, is there any light that you can shed on how his work is going?

POWELL: No, David isn't here, and so I couldn't meet with him. I think he's back in Washington preparing his report. And with the schedule that I have, I wasn't able to meet with members of his team, and it was no particular need to, because I know that David will be putting out a report in the very near future. And I look forward to seeing it, as everyone else is.

From what I have heard, he has assembled a great deal of useful information, but I don't know the specific results that he will be coming forward with or what conclusions he has drawn yet.

It's from the Sunday Times of London. I'll accept it when it is reported independently by a reputable source which is not all anti-administration all the time. Remember their coverage of the war?

I thought Kay said there was a mother load of evidence found?

Why the delay?

I know sometimes intelligence gets it wrong.

But we were assured there was incontrovertible and definite evidence. We supposedly had pictures and we supposedly had ironclad proof.

George had better come up with more than "Sometimes intelligence gets it wrong." or he just may be a one termer if the dumblecrats can get the charges to stick. And they will because of their willing press accomplices.

I always felt I had to believe the President because surely we would not go to war on a "maybe", that he would not take us into Iraq without real evidence, the there was no way for the French to be right on this issue.

As it stands we look like boobs.

This isn’t good news, but if I jumped off a bridge every time “The Media” floated a blatantly false story…

I hear ya.

I didn't think the report was supposed to come out until later in the Fall. Isn't the Times kinda jumping the gun?

I sincerely hope this is wrong. Kay seemed to be pretty emphatic that his report would produce the evidence necessary to justify the pre-war claims of WMDs. If his report fails to do that, then the major reason for the war was based on false pretenses and false information. The intelligence on WMDs has been floated around for years - from both democrat and republican administrations. Sheesh...even the UN itself believed in the WMD intelligence. Something doesn't jive here and I'm still holding out for the actual report.

Mid September was the supposed release date of the report, at least according to press reports from this summer.

If you have fertilizer in your shed, and diesel fuel in your tractor, you could either be a farmer, or a terrorist.

So where are all the Iraqi anthrax farmers and their 1000's of gallons of anthrax?

Yeah, everyone knew Saddam had WMD....the problem is can we PROVE IT. The lawyers are at work, (for the terrorists) which is what I believe may be causing many of the problems here.

"The admin sold us on the fact that we knew where cheeseburgers were. This was a mistake. We should have used something similar to my analogy. We know where the ketchup is, we know where the beef is, and Saddam has easy access to all these components."

I'm of the firm belief that Sadman made a lot of cheeseburgers and trucked them to burial sites in Syria and N. Syria (Lebanon). As someone else said, it's a lot easier to export this stuff covertly than it is to covertly destroy it.

We're just looking in the wrong places.

Germany warns of Iraq nuclear threat

Supporters of Saddam take to the streets to defy recent increased U.S. and British bombing
February 24, 2001

BERLIN, Germany -- Saddam Hussein may be able to fire nuclear weapons at Iraq's neighbours within three years, Germany intelligence service has said.

The service also reported it may be able to hit Europe with missiles within five years.

The Federal Intelligence Service (BND) said Baghdad is stepping up efforts to produce chemical weapons and increase its ability to produce biological weapons.

"It is clear that we have suspicions about Iraq," a spokesman for the Berlin-based service was quoted as saying in selected German newspapers on Saturday.

The news comes just eight days after a joint U.S. and British bombing of Iraqi air defence targets outside the U.N. sanctioned no-fly zones around Baghdad.

The bombings, which attracted condemnation from Arab countries and other permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, were in response to cited increases in Saddam's efforts to shoot down Allied planes......

if they think all the stuff is in Syria or Lebanon.

That would be the only legitimate reason to delay.

The NATO led US Bombing of Yugo was predicated upon the alleged 100,000 mass graves of ethenic Korsovo peoples, yet today less than 3,000 graves have been exhumed - No hugh political mess or problems for the liberals who demanded action! It does not matter whether we find the weapons or now, just that we had good intensions. Any questions, ask Clinton, Clark and Albright.

Everyone seems to forget that we have "Chemical Ali." They are having "conversations" with him. He is being squeezed dry. If Ali is tougher than US law allows us to squeeze, he can always be turned over to the Egyptians for futher conversation. We could even decide he is a "good boy" and release him to live in the Kurdish portion of Iraq. Perhaps one of the villages he hit with chem would be a suitable release point. I think we already know what and where they are. If they have been transported out of the country this will account for the silence of the administration as they calculate their next moves, probably against Syria if they are the receivers of the weapons.

In the year 2025,
If David Kay is still alive,
For Iraqi WMD he'll still be searchin',
From Baghdad to Basra and Tikrit, he'll be lurchin',
After all, he said it would take time,
and the bottom line is that it's on your dime
