Predictions calling for North Carolina landfall sometime tomorrow during late afternoon early evening. Strong CAT 2/Minimal CAT 3 expected. Between winds of 115-125 mph.

. Isabel continuing west-northwestward with little change in strength. Hurricane warnings extended northward.

At 5 am edt. 0900z. The hurricane warning is extended northward along the the atlantic coast of virginia to chincoteague. And northward over chesapeake bay to smith point. A hurricane warning is now in effect from cape fear north carolina northward to chincoteague virginia including chesapeake bay south of smith point.

A hurricane watch remains in effect for chesapeake bay north of smith point and the tidal potomac.

A tropical storm warning is in effect from cape fear southward to little river inlet south carolina.

At 5 am edt. The tropical storm watch is extended northward along the new jersey coast to sandy hook. A tropical storm watch is now in effect from north of chincoteague to sandy hook new jersey including delaware bay. And from south of little river inlet to south santee river south carolina.

A hurricane warning means that hurricane conditions are possible within the warning area. Generally within 24 hours.

At 5 am edt. 0900z. The center of hurricane isabel was located near latitude 29. 4 north. Longitude 72. 2 west or about 450 miles south-southeast of cape hatteras north carolina.

Isabel is moving toward the north-northwest near 9 mph. This general motion is expected to continue with an increase in forward speed during the next 24 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph. With higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 24 hours.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 145 miles. 230 km. From the center. And tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 260 miles. 415 km.

The latest minimum central pressure reported by an air force reserve hurricane hunter aircraft is 958 mb. 28. 29 inches.

Storm surge flooding of 7 to 11 feet above normal tide levels is expected near and to the north of where the center crosses the coast. Storm surge flooding of 4 to 7 ft above normal tide levels is expected in southern chesapeake bay.

Storm total rainfalls of 6 to 10 inches. With locally higher amounts. Are likely along the path of the hurricane.

Large ocean swells and dangerous surf conditions are being experienced along portions of the u. S. Eastern seaboard. These conditions will also continue over portions of the bahamas for the next few days.

Repeating the 5 am edt position. 29. 4 n. 72. 2 w. Movement toward. North-northwest near 9 mph. Maximum sustained winds. 110 mph. Minimum central pressure. 958 mb.

For storm information specific to your area. Please monitor products issued by your local weather office.

An intermediate advisory will be issued by the national hurricane center at 8 am edt followed by the next complete advisory at 11 am edt. Forecaster beven

This thing looks like it is starting reorganise after almost falling apart yesterday.

And the timespan it has before it reaches land mass, coupled with the slow speed, could mean big problems when it does touch down.

If it slows down it is actually a bad thing for the storm itself. It would allow the dry winds to come in and blow it apart. It's a good thing for homes,people,and insurance companies. But I do not see that happening honestly. This is gonna start to rocket about 18 mph north-northwest tomorrow then due north by late tomorrow night. I can't wait to see Jim Cantore losing his mind on the beaches of N.C..

I use WeatherMatrix.

Even though I am in the center of the country, I put Kitty Hawk, NC zipcode in the WeatherMatrix. So far, it is only showing some clouds/rain off the coast.
