Gen. Clark: Saddam Not a Criminal
NewsMax.com ^ | 9/21/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

In a little noticed interview with Fortune Magazine last week, presidential frontrunner Gen. Wesley Clark defended Saddam Hussein against charges that he was engaged in crimes against his own people at the time the Iraq war started, contending instead that the Iraqi dictator should have gotten a pass because his atrocities took place ten years ago.

Asked why it was right for President Clinton to use military force to halt Slobodan Milosevic's crimes against humanity in Kosovo, but not for President Bush to do the same thing against Saddam, Clark said that in Iraq, "The imminence of stopping a guy from committing a crime in progress - it wasn't there."

"In Kosovo you had ethnic cleansing actually unfolding, and we had intervened to stop it," the ex-NATO commander insisted, without commenting on the torture chambers, rape rooms and mass graves discovered in Iraq by coalition forces.

Instead, the Democratic frontrunner suggested that the Iraqi dictator deserved a pass by outlining what Fortune described as Clark's "Statute of Limitations for Genocidal Thugs."

"It was ten years ago that Saddam brutalized the Shiite Muslims in the south," he argued. "And he used chemical weapons 15 years ago."

Instead, said the retired military man, Saddam brutality was really no worse than crimes committed by leaders in China more than a decade ago, telling Fortune:

"We still deal with communist China, right? During the Cultural Revolution they had cannibalism in China. And the same guys that ran over the students in Tiananmen, they're still there."

Fortune writer Bill Powell pointed out, however, that while China is still a police state, "the recently departed General Secretary Jiang Zemin, to take but one example, was promoted from mayor of Shanghai to succeed Deng Xiaoping in part because he avoided bloodshed during Tiananmen. . . . Have you ever heard of Saddam promoting someone because he avoided killing somebody?"

"His 4th star was provided after pleading with bubba. How'd he earn that?"
Can you say "Lewinsky"?

This Clark is a very dangerous man. Had it not been for the British (and other NATO) influence in KFor, this Prozac-powered clymer would have stumbled us into an armed conflict with the Russians.

Our armed forces will never live down the shame of the Clinton alliance with the Albanians in this conflict. Not one senior officer had the cojones to resign over Bill Clinton's ill-fated military adventures. When every side in this dirty conflict was guilty of war crimes, we firmly allied ourselves with the most troubling participants, and then joined them as war criminals in our unprovoked attack on Serbian civilian targets.

The Serbs are certainly not angels. That doesn't mean we had to join the Muslim Devils, who are now using the cover of allied troops to continue their version of ethnic cleansing and jihad in the region.

Wiser-than-Clark senior NATO people now know the Muslims must be reined in before the Serbs and their Russian friends try it themselves. Clark was like bringing gasoline to the fire.

General Clark is an honorable man who dedicated his adult career to serving everyone on this site. His resume' and personal history is beyond reproach. To witness the unsavory, scandalous and outrageous comments about him now that he is a candidate is among the lowest frenzied mob conduct I've ever witnessed.

You're in serious need of re-education.

Does it bother anyone when an american shills for a deposed socialist dictator ?

You bet it does. It is chilling.

And to know that the dispicable klintons and many from their underworld team are propping this creep up, promoting him, pushing him forward and undercutting their fellow democrats in the process should be a huge note of alarm to ALL AMERICANS. This man is so interconnected with the Arkansas mafia it is almaost breathtaking. From Arkansas, to Waco, to Bosnia to working for the Stephens group in Arkansas...this is an entrenched socialist horror who lives in the shadows like the entire klinton mass of worms and would undermine his nation for political position.

These people are going to be stopped. We are fighting genuine evil within, are we not, Ronnie?

And I am not talking tin foil time here, I am talking bold faced reality.

To NOT judge a man seeking our Presidency by his past actions, words and associations is to set up this nation a continuation of the destructive MO of the klintons. It is sheer lunacy to quietly sit by and let the major media nets fail to spew what we know of Clark's history. We can stop this.

So yeah, ChadGore, it bothers me greatly that the democrats have decided to take the success in Iraq and twist it in order to hurt our troops, our national moral and drive to defeat terrorism-all for the worst kind of greed and ambition. These creeps willingly give fodder to our enemies abroad, the terrorists in particular, and have no place in our seats of power.

They don't bow to God, they bow to to something else. Very scary. This is obvious and real to me.

How much does one have to hate America to be willing to destroy the efforts, the moral, the drive, the pride and hope of our precious military folks living in real time danger for all of us?

Something surprisingly evil is upon us, and each of us needs to stand up and make views known. No more fear of talking politics to neighbors, friends and anyone willing to discuss our nation. No more refusal to write letters to editors, call into talk radio stations, call sponsors of programs who support anti-American rhetoric (we have folks whose LIVES are on the line for each of us right now).

There is a spiritual battle for our nation's heart going on...and it is time for the silent majority to wakeup an start shouting.

Thought you might agree with my post #174 as I just read your posts on A day in the life of President Bush and agreed so strongly with both of you!

Prayer is really needed right now...let's lift up or President and his family, administration and our troops, our nation in a deeply and reverent manner today and everyday. Can't you feel the spiritual tug? We have a snake in our nation who is attempting to destroy trust. We can nail it with God's help. We just need to ask.

I know God wants to answer our prayers. He loves the United States and He formed us for a special purpose, to spread the gospel to the world. I have always believed that. He's given us the resources and the fine people who have had a heart for missions. But He won't stand by forever and watch babies being butchered or homosexuals spitting in his face regarding gay marriage, etc. He set up principles for us to follow and we've fallen way short. It just keeps getting worse. There's a spirit of confusion on this land and Christians need to rebuke it in the Name of Jesus. He will begin judgement in the church He loves. He will not stand by and allow what's going on in His body to go on much longer. Love, Mxxx

"the Iraqi dictator should have gotten a pass because his atrocities took place ten years ago." retired Gen Wussly Cluck.

Yeah, and maybe we should give Hitler a pass because what he did was over 50 years ago, right?
And maybe we should give Son of Sam a pass too.
After all, it's been over ten years.

*Inhuman scream of rage*
There aren't any words to describe the anger I have towards this sorry excuse for a former soldier masquerading as a retired General.

Yup, sure does, and seeing as how he and Clinton can't keep their mouths shut, it bothers me on a regular basis. If fake-General Clark makes it to the presidency, Jimmy may have some serious competition for the title of "Worst President".
