Tony Snow to Bush administration re. Iraq NEWS coverage: "Put some ice on it!?"

Sorry, Tony, if the world thinks we're failing in Iraq it is the fault of your peers, not this administration!

This administration has been telling the world and the press the truth about Iraq daily, for six months (plus regularly for six months pre-war).

For six months the press has ignored the administration officials, the troops and the Iraqi people to push their own anti-war, anti-Bush agenda.

The facts are verifiable.

Now we have the press, who failed to tell the truth, failed to inform the world, failed to do their jobs, lecturing those who are doing a tremendous job fulfilling their missions and keeping their promises daily in Iraq.

After America's FREE (thanks to those who fought to defend our freedom) press lied to the world daily for six months, endangering our troops, aiding our enemies and misleading the world, they are now blaming the administration for the world's failure to learn the truth about our tremendous progress in Iraq? Those who are risking their lives to liberate Iraq and take out terrorists are being told by those who failed to do their jobs that they're not just required to save civilization, but are now expected to do the press's job as well.

Sorry, Tony. It's a shameful accusation to throw at this administration.

Our troops, this President and this military leadership deserves an apology, fair coverage and gratitude from members of OUR press. They certainly don't need the press's advice on how to fight this war and they shouldn't have to do the job of the press.

Press to the administration, "put some ice on it!"

President Bush had a Rose Garden Event this morning, with Colin Powell and Jeb Bush standing on either side of him as he spoke for more than ten minutes about huge new initiatives on policy toward Cuba.
FNC was there at the beginning of his remarks but they cut away; CNN and MSNBC were not airing it, but CSPAN was actually there. Luckily it is Friday and our Senate did not need CSPAN2 since their weekend had already started.

I guess the Administration has to get its own TV distribution network.

He just said it on Sean Hannity's radio show. It's the topic for FoxNews Sunday. Sean agreed. The administration was too late getting the news out.

Now, I know where most every conservative pundit was on the war until the past few months, post-embeds because I pestered most of them regularly from May through July. They weren't listening to Gen. Franks, Gen. Abizaid, Jay Garner, Amb. Bremer, CENTCOM, the Pentagon, Gen. Myers, SOD Rumsfeld, the troops or Pres. Bush. They were following the mainstream 24/7 dishonest DNC PR agents.

I love both Tony and Sean and am grateful for their faithful and excellent work, but as for the world's wrongheaded view of the war being the administration's fault? That's pouring salt in some pretty big undeserved wounds already inflicted by OUR guilty press on this administration.

You'd think that would make a few reporters think about what they're doing to our brave heroes.

I've got a house full of teenagers this afternoon allowing only intermittent viewing of Fox News. Just moments ago, I was able to catch an interview conducted by the gent (apologies on lack of ID) sitting in for John Gibson. His guest was a reporter for the LA Times who recently was afforded an opportunity in Iraq to interview several Saddam loyalists/jihadists who are behind some of the attacks on our troops. He said they are using weapons belonging to the ex-Iraqi military, they idolize bin Laden, and their next goal is to kidnap some of our troops. When the Fox rep asked the Times rep if he would give information about these hold-outs to coalition members, he weakly responded he didn't know where they were now. Scandalous, traitorous behavior.

I'm sitting here with dropped jaw -
and also wishing I could present a report like your coverage of a Centcom briefing.
