Texas Redistricting - Senate set to vote and pass new map
Excerpt from THIS THREAD:
AUSTIN - The Texas House approved a sweeping government reorganization measure Sunday, acquiescing to Senate terms for giving final approval to a congressional redistricting map. The House approved the measure by a 79-35 vote, then adjourned the third special session.
Final passage of the Republican-backed redistricting map now rests with the Senate.
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst previously said the Senate would not approve the map until the House passed the unrelated bill intended to reorganize state government.
"I'm personally ready to call their bluff in the Senate," said Rep. Terry Keel, R-Austin, arguing against the government reorganization bill.
The Senate was scheduled to convene at 6 p.m.
Dewhurst said senators can only vote on redistricting Sunday, not filibuster, because he has closed down debate.

Yea!!!! I think we ought to send the 17 on a free weeks (more than that and our property taxes will go up again) vacation. Their choice. OK or NM. :')

Oops! I left out 2 important words. ANYWHERE BUT OK or NM

No, I didn't say this would not happen. I said that I was confused about the weekend adjournment and was wondering if a fourth special session would be needed.
We shall see how the districts break down and what the voters decide. Remember, a Democrat plan in GA in 1991 led to unexpected consequences for the party. It may be that the GOP gains will be confined to four seats, particularly if Stenholm defeats Neugebauer.

No, I didn't say this would not happen.
Well maybe you were predicting it would happen. I must have missed those post back when the rats were in NM or OK.
Four seats, five seats, six seats..... That's that many more than they have now..... Better than the status quo....

Four seats, five seats, six seats..... That's that many more than they have now.....Which is a "swing" of 8, 10, or 12 seats in the grand scheme of things.
This is very, very good news.

Hope they weren't trying to hurt Ron Paul, he's a decent guy even if he's not a Republican.
