The result, of course, is a huge devaluation of the Churchs property portfolio. This squandering of historic resources amounts to colossal mismanagement and a betrayal of trust.
Nevertheless, I understand that the COE is the largest landowner in the U.K. Good thing the writers of the Bill of Rights avoided the idea of a COUS all together.

It's the same situation in France.

bookmark. The author is correct. Have witnessed the same sorts of "services" in ECUSA Episcopalian churches on west coast America.

The Church has been at deaths door before. I am completely unfamiliar with CofE history. What's the reference here?
Just from the news lately, I have the impression that CofE membership and attendance is hitting historic lows these days.

One must not forget, of course, that the Church of England was originally a political device in the service of ambitious royalty and still continues to be a plaything of politicians. The social ideas of the day have to be given some religious backing however absurd it may seem. Thus, the elevation of women as clergy is meant to mirror the opportunities now offered to women in the secular world. Also, if homosexuality is good outside the church, it is now good inside the church. It is easy to see here who leads and who follows. But then it has always been thus. The institution was flawed from the start. Only the old architecture and country settings have some merit. The National Trust is going to be very busy when it is asked to take over the real estate.
