The Kingdoms of this World

Biblical historians believe that Nimrod, the son of Cush and grandson of Ham, was responsible for building the city of Babel. In his quest to usurp God, he convinced the people to build the Tower of Babel.

Spurred on by his vision of a world empire, he wanted to create a central headquarters from which he would keep all people under his ruthless and despotic authority. In the end, he believed they would worship him as God (Genesis 11).

One of the ways that Satan tempted Yeshua (Jesus) during his 40 days in the wilderness was to offer Him all the kingdoms of the world (Matthew 4). But knowing that His kingdom is not of this world (John 18), the Son of God was undaunted by Satan’s treachery and rejected his world order. To receive the kingdoms of the world, Satan asked Yeshua to fall down and worship him. The devil tempted Jesus to abandon His mission to endure the shameful and excruciating death on the cross—the only way that mankind could be redeemed.

Our human nature always gravitates toward the path of least resistance. We much prefer to listen to the voice offering comfortable choices, often not realizing at first that it’s the voice of the enemy of our soul. The father of lies is quite adept at deception. He didn’t hesitate to approach the Son of God, tempting him to gain the whole world without having to die for it. His sole requirement is that we bow down and worship him instead of God alone.

After 10 million people lost their lives in World War I, another “tower”—the League of Nations—was created to prevent a second world war of such magnitude. The hope was to avoid the enormous price in human life in the future. But the League of Nations couldn’t prevent the outbreak of World War II. One man’s madness brought about the deaths of 55 million people! Adolph Hitler’s uncanny ability to cast his spell over the intelligentsia and church leaders is ample evidence of demonic powers working through this man and his comrades.

Right after the Second World War, a new and higher “tower” was built, this time called the United Nations, established to mediate peace among the nations. But the UN hasn’t accomplished its lofty goals. Now the world is calling for an even higher so-called tower. At long last, we’ve come full circle, and the world is primed to rebuild the infamous Tower of Babel.

It’s not only confusion that comes out of Babel. The Antichrist himself and the False Prophet will also come out of Babylon, and they will lead the whole world astray via a unified world government. The new world order, the last “Tower of Babel,” won’t tolerate national boundaries, national characteristics or religious convictions.

Islamic terrorists have been paving the way for the new world order. International terrorism knows no boundaries so it must be fought without regard to borders. Under the guise of fighting the global jihad, a one-world system will be created that will rule over the nations, without any geographical limitations: world police, world currency and world religion. To protect mankind from the threat of terrorism, people will be willing to worship the Antichrist (Matthew 24). What the Messiah refused to do for Satan, the world’s population will do.

And then, all the nations will unite against Jerusalem to destroy Israel (Zechariah 12). But God will intervene to save His people Israel, and He will judge the Tower of Babel. In a single hour, all of Babylon will be destroyed. The Beast (the Antichrist) and the False Prophet, who ensured that people worshipped the Antichrist, will be destroyed (Revelation 18 and 19).

Then the Lord will rule and reign from Jerusalem.

The Real Honest-To-God Truth doesn't get much attention, does it?

I thought this article gave a good short backround of the dangerous mentality that drives men to want to 'make a name for themselves' and defy God like in the tower of Babel story.

I'm not sure if terrorism can be linked to this, but something to think about, nevertheless.

Interesting take, and a little different from others I have read.

"I'm not sure if terrorism can be linked to this, but something to think about, nevertheless."

Which terrorists? The vast right-wing conspiracy, with militias, blowing up buildings? Sorry, feel better now.

Islamic fundamentalists thrive on terrifying little babies and their loving mothers. Once one realizes satan is a real being, that thing exists, and his whole purpose for existing is to bring down Jerusalem, then the news begins to make real sense...
