A reasonable balance is needed. Both the US and China are too much one way or the other.

But I’d rather see the social norms be so powerful in this country . . . as they once were more so . . .
be such that lawlessness etc. was largely prevented before it happened and severely dealt with when it did.
Families dealt with lawbreakers sternly regardless of what the law did or didn’t do.
