Thank you for all your input in the varied discussions.
God Bless you all.
The term papist is indeed used.
But if you read the the context of the article the author is refuting the stance of a Reformed father.
He is not using the tern in a current context, but in the context of a historical document.
Oh no, Cathoic threads that have had their caucus designations removed were done for terms less than that.
...the idolatry of the papists...
I think we need to have a ruling whether or not using a historic creed or confession that includes terms that are offensive violate the Caucus tag. This means that heavy editing must be performed on almost any of the Reformers works.
I think a bit of indulgence must be applied, as long as the posters to a thread do not start echoing the offense. The historic roots of the Reformation are due to the break from the perceived apostasy of the RCC, and their rhetoric runs throughout all the foundational works.
Otherwise there will be important portions of these works which must be edited out. Imagine the Declaration of Independence or the Federalist Papers, or even Common Sense edited to take out the perceived insults to the British Crown. Are they there? Of course. Are they necessary to see the context? Again, of course.
IF the Reformed cannot print their doctrinal works in full, you will in sense be editing out many of the distinctives and reasons of this faith from our caucuses.

And thank you Mad Dawg for your standing up for the Caucus label.
And a MERRY CHRISTmas to all! Peace on Earth, God’s good will t’ward man!

Good point. It stuck out like a sore thumb to me, even in context, just as some of the things Luther said in the introduction of the Small Catechism did. I've come to expect no possibility of any threads being allowed a "Lutheran Caucus" designation, because of things like that.
He is not using the tern in a current context, but in the context of a historical document.
I can't say that I've ever seen any Jewish challenge to Catholic Caucus designations, nor do I see any on this thread.
That is a true statement as Christmas does not come the Holy Word of Elohim.

“Papist” is a term that Catholics sometimes use to refer to themselves. An example can be found in Post 11 of this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1736761/posts
Or the tagline to post 3 of this thread:

See also the American Papist website http://www.americanpapist.com/blog.html where it is defined as ‘Papist: n. A Catholic who is a strong advocate of the papacy.’
That is a true statement as Christmas does not come FROM the Holy Word of Elohim.
Is celebrating his birth bad?
I think it's great to celebrate the arrival of our Saviour. We just need to be mindful the reason we celebrate is because we are so lost without him and what he did for us at Resurrection Sunday.
But if you need to read the Holy Word of Elohim. Do not follow the Pagan rituals of the Roman church. Luke 1 will lead you to His Birthday When He tabernacled among us. Resurrection Sunday was really the Feast of First Fruits. Again if you believe the Holy Word of Elohim.No.

as it was on Sukkot(Feast of Tabernacles).
Well, some of it, anyway.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
“LOL, B-D! Merry Christmas!”
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family. I’m looking forward to attending the 50th anniversary of my graduating class at Mars Hill College in Ashville next year.
If you are looking for a home then join my tradition; it traditionally rejects all traditions, without question.
It's not traditions stu--I mean O Theophilus. ;-)
It's the Way, the Truth, and the Life -- and it's been revealed in some detail and written down, by the Holy Spirit's inspiration.
I agree.
In reading the Didache one thing that struck me was the flexibility in worship.

Sorry about that. But the article did seem to focus pretty heavily on tradition as a justification. Although my comments were a little sarcastic, I think they captured the spirit of the article. But you're right, it's a caucus thread and I'll respect it.
