There seems to be a syndrome evidenced here on FR that accompanies certain religious and political beliefs....it's called the Flailing About Syndrome, or FAS.

Photobucket

Posters with advanced cases of this syndrome sometimes become so emotionally distraught that their "tang becomes tongueled in their eye teeth and they can't see what they are saying."

This syndrome is closely aligned to the "Mitt is a HERO and SAVIOR and he has great hair" delusion and "You're always pickin' on us, you bigots!" complex, and often, examples of all these will be seen in the same post.

Sadly, there seems to be no cure available for these conditions at the present time.

The LDS doctrine is not that there are any gods other than the Father.

From Mormon Scripture and writings. This is why I don’t even like discussing stuff with Mormons, they are either deluded about their own teachings, ignorant of them, or lying. It’s a constant pattern and battle to just get simple, informed, honesty out of a Mormon:

In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it.(April 1844, Teachings of The Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 349)

I will preach on the plurality of Gods. I have selected this text for that express purpose. I wish to declare I have always and in all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods. It has been preached by the Elders for fifteen years.(June 16, 1844, ibid, p. 370)

If Abraham reasoned thus If Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and John discovered that God the Father of Jesus Christ had a Father, you may suppose that He had a Father also. Where was there ever a son without a FATHER? And where was there ever a FATHER without first being a son? Whenever did a tree or anything spring into existence without a progenitor? And everything comes in this way. Paul says that which is earthly is in the likeness of that which is heavenly, Hence if Jesus had a Father, can we not believe that He had a Father also?...(June 16, 1844, ibid, p. 373)

...they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.(Abraham 4:1; also see 4:2-29)

President Joseph F. Smith taught: “I know that God is a being with body, parts and passions....Man was born of woman; Christ, the Savior, was born of woman; and God, the Father was born of woman” (Church News, 19 Sept, 1936, p.2).

We can become Gods like our Heavenly Father. This is exaltation...They [people] will become gods....and will be able to have spirit children also. These spirit children will have the same relationship to them as we do to our Heavenly Father. They will be an eternal family....They will have everything that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have, all power, glory, dominion, and knowledge.(Gospel Principles, page 290, 1986 edition or older; copyright 1978 by Corporation of The President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)

Grey, next time you do a Medline search, see if you can find anything on ROS (Romney Obsession Syndrome.) It is a prodromal indicator of senility.

"The term "prodrome" is derived from the Greek word prodromos meaning the forerunner of an event (Fava and Kellner 1991). In clinical medicine, a prodrome refers to the early symptoms and signs of an illness that precede the characteristic manifestations of the acute, fully developed illness."

I'm sorry, but most of what we see here constitutes a full-blown manifestation. Too late, for most.

I am truly LOL! No cure available—too funny!

That reminds me, I’ve been wondering if some of the fainters over in the Obama crowds are the same ones who used to swoon and drool here for Flip?

Unfortunately, my research shows that the syndromes and complexes are NOT exclusive to republicans or faux-conservatives. There seems to be a rather virulent strain that presents in childhood and is aggravated by the constant barrage of fairy tales and pre-kindergarten brain-washing.

Unfortunately, there is some overlap between the Obammy-Hope-delusion, OHD, and the MHS (Mitt is Hero and Savior) syndromes in which the left side of the brain conquers the right side, leading to a tendency to believe everything you hear if it fits your agenda.

I need to make this disclaimer: "I am not now or have never been a physician, phychiatrist, psychologist, diviner of water (dowser) or translator of ancient manuscripts. However, I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

You're in luck. I DO have, in my grant budget, room for a research assistant who can also cut-and-paste and mine the internet for hilarious graphics. Please forward your Curriculum Vitae with samples at your earliest convenience.

Sorry, you seem to be overqualified for coffee maker. However, there MAY be a position as Director of Human Resources. The ability to discern water from wine and wheat from tares would be advantageous for gaining this position. Please forward your Curriculum Vitae ASAP.
