The story, written in poor English, is a challenge to read but from it comes a truly remarkable, historical discovery. Perhaps someone will be able to find additional images on the Internet.

Thank you for posting this wonderful story. I will send this to Ethiopian acquiantances.
And may the Lord Bless the Ethiopian Christian people and help guide the rest back to the Lord Jesus.

"he had to persue his mission and walk from the upper to the lower officials chest of drawers" sounds like an odd sort of punishment, or maybe a fetish, but the story was great.
Thanks again.
Hard to determine what to search on to find more, however.

Interesting story. These sorts of “buried” churches are indeed found in Ethiopia though they are not strictly “buried” but rather they were carved out of bedrock straight down so that the highest point of the church is at ground level. This one I suspect simply got filled in over the centuries.
Fascinating that Panagia would tell a Mohammedan about this church. Its a good reminder that she is not one to scruple about creeds.
