Unfortunately not. Before the election, I had an online discussion with someone who attends weekly Mass in a fairly orthodox parish. The parish priest said (I forget the exact comment) that Communion and her Obama button were incompatible. She was astounded and threw a hissy fit online gathering sympathy from a number of “Catholics” that the priest “overstepped and should be reported to the bishop.”

Early in the online discussion, I mentioned the 5 non-negotiables which Miss HF did look up, then said she wasn’t going to let religion interfere with her politics. By that time, the priest slightly backed off from his initial comment which Miss Hissy Fit and chorus took as evidence that the priest was wrong “and didn’t want to admit it.” MIss HF wasn’t interested in any further references on Catholic teaching, only in interpreting a comment as an “apology.”

Bottom line: She attends weekly and apparently active in some parish activity, but doesn’t really know the Catholic and doesn’t want to know.

Unfortunately, there are a number of people who regularly attend Mass and have an incomplete knowledge of Catholic teaching.

I for one, am glad this is happening. For too long, Catholics have been uneducated and unmoved in their faith. This lack of catechisis in the Church turned out many luke warms. This is Gods way of purifying His church and returning us to the faith of our fathers.

It is especially frustrating to me, as I was a cradle Catholic raised in the turbulent times of the 70’s. Not quite sure what to make of Vatican 2, so they taught us nothing of our faith during CCD. Crazy times growing up, and so many in my generation didn’t have a clue about what we were walking away from after confirmation. I became a baptist because they had a fire in their belly that Catholics seemed not to. We couldnt understand why the old folks went to Mass. It seemed they did it just because their parents said to and they were worshipping a religion and not Jesus. I wanted Jesus so I left;but Jesus wanted me just as badly.

I went through a very anti catholic period, trying to save anyone in my family who would listen. I started to really study (even started working on greek and latin) to try and find evidence to save my family from what I thought was the Whore of Babylon. Jesus used that time to convert ME instead :), as well as my baptist husband and our children.

If my generation was taught what they had, this would not be an issue in our Church. That is being corrected now, and unfortunately, many will walk away, just as the many did in Jn6:66. God is cleaning house, or vomiting out the lukewarm as we speak...It will not make us weaker in His Church, it will make us stronger and more vibrant precisely because He is with us. It will be supernatural. Usually something that divides makes 2 smaller parts. That is not how God works; just think about a baby developing;cells divide and create more not less.

Let it happen, let the floodgates open! There are many alternative faiths for those who do not believe the Catholic church is the true Church and adhere to her teachings. Do the Catholics who promote abortion, gay marriage, women priests, etc, REALLY believe that if they scream, protest, and form committees to “change” the catholic church it will make their cause any less sinful to God? Truly, this is a wicked generation who has fallen for teachings that tickle their ears. God has turned them over to their own lusts. Too bad, I guess the me generation is finally bearing its fruit, and it is all rotten!

That commentary you wrote, speaks to me in a special way. While I am not married nor a mother, I grew up during the turbulant 60’s and 70’s during the period of VC2. For many years, even well into middle age, I struggled with being a Catholic. Now that I have just turned 50 today and with an aging mother with some health issues, I realized that I must be more then ever a commited Roman Catholic. God Bless you and may you have a Blessed Holy Week and Easter. :0 =^..^=

May the Church increase with new members and RENEWED members come next week! :) =^..^=

God Bless you! Renew your faith, practice it to its fullest! It matters not that you are married, you have a special gift of being single. Scriptures point that out time and again!

Be true to where God placed you, and grow where you are planted. We did that, and our precious firstborn is marrying this January and is a committed catholic, our precious middle son goes off to seminary next year, and our precious youngest is a fierce pro life advocate and does the rallies and other projects.

Your life will bear the fruit God intended as you labor in the garden He gave YOU!
Prayers for your mother, and you! Happy Easter!

Odouchebag and the ‘Rats won't care. They got what they wanted. Now they have four years to patch things up with those who voted for them who might be having some tinges of buyer's remorse. Just get out the gummint check book and start sending our free money. That'll bring a lot of them back.

I ask those who put obama in office how they like the ‘change’ so far. Change to bigger government with big brother policies shaping up. Tax dollars to pay to murder the unborn at home and abroad. And now to try to force doctors and medical personnel to participate in the killings of the unborn (and later in euthanasia) when they entered medicine to preserve life and health. The country is NO LONGER FREE WHEN A PERSON CANNOT FOLLOW THEIR CONSCIENCE!

Specious arguments and weak guidance convinced many to vote for obama because the war would end immediately and everyone would have health care. Right. 17,000 additional troops are going to Afganistan and socialized medicine does not compete with the system we have now. Try getting really good care a decade from now. And those who make several thousands of dollars a year: well we are going to redistibute your wealth so that those who do not work will never have to.

Change? For the worse.

Catholics? Many are stupid and disobedient. Some secular reasoning was enough for them to avoid the protection of the unborn. Ongoing scandals as at Notre Shame and the high profile pro-abortionsists who have sold their souls keep the uninformed Catholics from living their faith and keep the church in division.

I have been reading your exchanges on the CINO issue. I believe many devote Catholics voted for Obama despite the deep believe in life. They voted for Obama, and in the past Democrats, because of their heart felt desire for Charity. They view the promise of the Government underwriting programs to help the poor, sick and disadvantage as a high Christian calling. The Church itself, included mainline Protestant churches, has been supportive of government aid since the great society.

IMHO, when these misguided Catholics and Protestants finally realize that government socialism is not charity and charity is not socialism, the Democrats are toast.

Very true as are Christians of all sects who fell for this garbage and now they are going to pay for their stupidity. I know quite a few who have voted for the Obamamessiah who are taking nasty hits in their job, financial situations and personal lives. It looks like God is going to let Satan chew on these people for awhile to give these people perspective. Hebrews 12 talks about the discipline of the Lord and it is something we shall see grow daily as we go through this catastrophe of a presidency.
